Sunday Summary #139

It was another fun filled week for me with DH’s appointments, trips to town 5 out of seven days, getting things ready for our fundraiser at the Guild and doing some Golf Course things done, but I managed to sew every day. I also spent some time setting up my new cutting table.

Last goals:

1. Keep working on my hand quilting, EPP projects and leader/ender projects. No progress 😢

2. When I get back to the studio next, make the time to quilt my version of A Roll of the Dice. No time to work on it. 😢

3. Finish my second Heading North quilt, designed by Sandra of MMM Quilts. No progress.

4. Keep working on my Dresden blocks in between my other projects. No progress 😢

5. Work on the last binding that needs to be hand stitched when I get back to the studio. Didn’t happen.

6. Start working on my purple RSC blocks. Some progress. 😁

7. Keep working on my project for the May Sew It – Show It Challenge “Rose Colored Glasses” being hosted by Carol from Just Let Me Quilt. Some progress 😁

8. Get caught up with the Rainbow Neighbourhood QAL hosted by Sandra Walker from MMM Quilts. I’m still not caught up but I am making progress. 😁

9. Finish up my two UFOs. No progress. 😢

10. Work on the pattern tests. One is complete and the second is being pieced. 😁

11. Do not let Samantha or any of her squirrel buddies side track me from my list or tempt me with any new projects. 🐿🐿🐿🐿. The biggest squirrel attack of the year happened. Sunday was our annual fundraiser at the Guild. I was there from 8:00 until 3:30. In the four hours we were going, we were very fortunate and raised several thousand dollars towards fixing our damaged floor 😁. The weather cooperated, the sun was shining, I got sunburnt and everyone had fun and found their perfect treasures. 😁

These photos were taken before we opened the gate as we were finishing set up. It took 2 hours this years.

This next photo was taken at 8:30. Can you just imagine the lineup by the time we opened the gate at 10:00?

Yes they bring their chairs to wait, but we do have coffee and muffins by the gate to tide people over!

Before the event was over, we had several more donations come in; the start of next year’s event! 😉

This week’s goals:

This week will likely not be very productive. We need to go to Kelowna for DH’s check up at the MS Clinic which are now scheduled every six months instead of every two years. We will be away from home for 3 days so I’m taking handwork with me.

1. Keep working on my EPP, embroidery and leader/ender projects.

2. When I get back to the studio make quilting my Roll of the Dice quilt the priority and get the binding put on.

3. Finish my second Heading North quilt, designed by Sandra of MMM Quilts which I left at the studio. 😳

4. Keep working on my Dresden blocks and decide on my final plan for sashing and borders.😉

5. Work on the last binding that needs to be hand stitched when I get back to the studio.

6. Keep working on my purple RSC Challenge blocks.

7. Keep working on my project for the May Sew It – Show It Challenge “Rose Colored Glasses” being hosted by Carol from Just Let Me Quilt.

8. Get caught up with the Rainbow Neighbourhood QAL hosted by Sandra Walker from MMM Quilts.

9. Finish up my two UFOs.

10. Work on the pattern tests.

11. Do not let Samantha or any of her squirrel buddies side track me from my list or tempt me with any new projects. 🐿🐿🐿🐿

Stitchin’ Time

Kate from Life in Pieces hosts a weekly linky party to help us keep to our goals of stitching every day.

I’m trying for at least 30 minutes a day this year, and have my week set as Saturday as my week end.

  • January 31/31
  • February 28/28
  • March 31/31
  • April 22/29
  • this week 7/7
  • Previous Total 105/112
  • Total: 112/119
  • Percentage = 94.18 %

My numbers were a bit better this week. 😁

Stash Report

I like to link with Donna @ QuiltPaintCreate to keep track of fabric in and out of my stash.

  • Fabric Used: 1 yard
  • Fabric Purchased this week: 0 yards
  • Fabric Previous Balance: 59 yards
  • Balance in stash to use this year: 58 yards

* my goal is to lessen my stash by 100 yards this year. I haven’t managed to actually figure out how much fabric I really have in my stash, but I have reduced my stash these past few years and really only purchase fabric if I need it for a particular project. 😉

* any fabric used from the scrap bins, was gifted or a prize; doesn’t count as stash!

Had to copy this from Quilting Gail’s blog. 😉

PHD in 2023

Quilting Gail is hosting her PHD in 2023 Challenge again this year. 😉

Thank you for stopping by and reading my post. Your comments make my day and I do reply to each one. 😉 Carol

I have been fondling fabric and creating things with fabric and fiber for as long as I can remember. My children had homemade clothes, blankets, canning and quilts most of their lives. Now I create goodies to share! Hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy making them! When I am not creating with fiber or fabric I keep busy with Dear Heart, kids, grandkids, great grandkids.

  1. Lovely weather for your guild fundraiser! Hopefully your sunburn isn’t too bad! We came home via Jasper, so didn’t come close to your place … or obviously I would have made sure to say “hi.”

  2. Hi Carol! How fabulous! It looks like you had a great turnout for the guild sale and the weather looks beautiful. I hope all of the fabric sold as I can only imagine how tempting leftovers might be! Thanks for the update. I was thinking about you and wondering how it went. {{Hugs}} a bunch! ~smile~ Roseanne

  3. Your guild sale looks like tons of fun – glad all the hard work paid off! And you still managed to sew every day, that is impressive. Good luck on your Kelowna trip. Watch that sunburning! 😦

    1. Hi Linda. I had managed to keep a long sleeved shirt on until about 1:00. Then I was just too hot and had to take it off. I’m usually more careful and have sunscreen on, but I had still been wearing flannel shirts on Saturday. The heat came on so fast! Some days the sewing was basting hanging sleeves on Member’s quilts for the show, but I did stitch every day. Hope all is well with you 🤗

    1. Okay Sharon. You caught me. I did succumb to temptation but it gets reported next week. Sunday is my week beginning but I had to share photos of a bright sunny day early. It’s the first we’ve had this year 😉

  4. You still managed to get in your 7/7 days of stitching time even with all the other stuff going one. The guild sale looks like it was a lot of work on top of being a lot of fun. Hope you can get in some good slow stitching time this week. Safe travels!

    1. Thank you Kate. Can I confess that some of the stitching was basting hanging sleeves on the Members quilts for the show? We start organizing for next year’s fundraiser tomorrow before DH and I head out of town. 😉

  5. That looks like an incredible sale. I’ve never seen anything like it. I’m so glad you raised a lot of money for your floor so it was worth all the work. Safe travels on your trip this week. I’m sorry it’s for medical though. Best wishes there.

    1. Hi Marti. The sale was fun and very successful. We are in Kelowna now. Made it through before the highways flooded. The sun is shining and it’s a beautiful day. 😉

  6. I’m so jealous of your Guild building, as it looked so beautiful with all the smiling members, the beautiful quilts, and of course, that they all were obviously having such a great time. That sale was a lot of work, and good for you for getting everything ready for the sale. Congratulations!
