Sunday Summary #138

For those who have been following me for a while know that I usually do my weekly recap and have always had To Do Tuesday in the title ever since I became a regular linker when Roseanne and Sue, and then Kate, and then Linda were hosting the linky party. Now since I am hosting it, I will continue to do the linky party in a separate post and just keep linking my Summary. It might be less confusing that way! 😉

It was another fun filled week for me with DH’s appointments, several meetings for both Boards I sit on and a quick overnight trip to the studio to finish up D and Kenny’s taxes since the final paperwork arrived. I got there Friday at dinner time and arrived back home at 2:30 am Sunday.

I stayed longer to be with D because it was their 35th wedding anniversary on Saturday. The three of us would always go for Japanese food to celebrate birthdays or occasions when I got to the studio as close to those days. I’d promised my little bald buddy that I would take his wife out on their anniversary since he isn’t here to do it!

I only managed to get 4 days with some sewing time this week so don’t really have anything to show since some of it is secret sewing and the rest of my projects haven’t changed much! So here’s my lists for the week:

Last goals:

1. Keep working on my hand quilting, EPP projects and leader/ender projects. No progress 😢

2. When I get back to the studio next, make the time to quilt my version of A Roll of the Dice. No time to work on it. 😢

3. Finish my second Heading North quilt, designed by Sandra of MMM Quilts. No progress.

4. Keep working on my Dresden blocks in between my other projects. The centres are now appliquéd and I’m deciding playing with sashing or no sashing and my borders ideas, wanting to just keep working from my stash for this project. 😁

5. Work on the last binding that needs to be hand stitched when I get back to the studio. Didn’t happen.

6. Start working on my purple RSC Challenge blocks. I managed to pull purple scraps, but that’s as far as I got. 😢

7. Keep working on my project for the May Sew It – Show It Challenge “Rose Colored Glasses” being hosted by Carol from Just Let Me Quilt. Let me tell you a funny story; I had my project planned and everything cut, some sewing done, and then I suffered a squirrel attack when Samantha told me I had to do something entirely different. Therefor I am back to cutting fabric and starting over from scratch! 🤔🐿

8. Get caught up with the Rainbow Neighbourhood QAL hosted by Sandra Walker from MMM Quilts. I’m still not caught up but I should be next week if real life cooperates and I have more sewing time this week. 😳

9. Square up the two UFOs and get the binding on them. I did get one squared up; now I just need to finish burying my threads and do the binding. The other is still waiting to be squared up.

10. Do not let Samantha or any of her squirrel buddies side track me from my list or tempt me with any new projects. 🐿🐿🐿🐿. I’m sure Samantha brought every squirrel in the Kootenays (yes they are out of hibernation) to run rampant through my head, and around my sewing space! I’m not only redoing my Rose Colored Glasses project, but I am now working on two more pattern tests!

This week’s goals:

1. Keep working on my EPP, embroidery and leader/ender projects.

2. When I get back to the studio make quilting my Roll of the Dice quilt the priority and get the binding put on.

3. Finish my second Heading North quilt, designed by Sandra of MMM Quilts which I left at the studio. 😳

4. Keep working on my Dresden blocks and decide on my final plan for sashing and borders.😉

5. Work on the last binding that needs to be hand stitched when I get back to the studio.

6. Start working on my purple RSC Challenge blocks.

7. Keep working on my project for the May Sew It – Show It Challenge “Rose Colored Glasses” being hosted by Carol from Just Let Me Quilt.

8. Get caught up with the Rainbow Neighbourhood QAL hosted by Sandra Walker from MMM Quilts.

9. Finish up my two UFOs.

10. Work on the pattern tests.

10. Do not let Samantha or any of her squirrel buddies side track me from my list or tempt me with any new projects. 🐿🐿🐿🐿

Looking at my list, I’m beginning to think I need to make separate lists for home and studio sewing/quilting projects! I have piecing and quilting projects in both places (and 2 bins of flimsies needing to go on the frame at the studio) so my list does look terribly long and some projects don’t get moved along because of my limited time at the studio. 😳

Stitchin’ Time

Kate from Life in Pieces hosts a weekly linky party to help us keep to our goals of stitching every day.

I’m trying for at least 30 minutes a day this year, and have my week set as Saturday as my week end.

  • January 31/31
  • February 28/28
  • March 31/31
  • April 12/15
  • this week 4/7
  • Previous Total 101/105
  • Total: 105/112
  • Percentage = 93.75 %

As expected with real life commitments, my percentage is starting to drop. 😢

Stash Report

I like to link with Donna @ QuiltPaintCreate to keep track of fabric in and out of my stash.

  • Fabric Used: 0 yards
  • Fabric Purchased this week: 0 yards
  • Fabric Previous Balance: 59 yards
  • Balance in stash to use this year: 59 yards

* my goal is to lessen my stash by 100 yards this year. I haven’t managed to actually figure out how much fabric I really have in my stash, but I have reduced my stash these past few years and really only purchase fabric if I need it for a particular project. 😉

* any fabric used from the scrap bins, was gifted or a prize; doesn’t count as stash!

Had to copy this from Quilting Gail’s blog. 😉

PHD in 2023

Quilting Gail is hosting her PHD in 2023 Challenge again this year. 😉

Thank you for stopping by and reading my post. Your comments make my day and I do reply to each one. 😉 Carol

I have been fondling fabric and creating things with fabric and fiber for as long as I can remember. My children had homemade clothes, blankets, canning and quilts most of their lives. Now I create goodies to share! Hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy making them! When I am not creating with fiber or fabric I keep busy with Dear Heart, kids, grandkids, great grandkids.

  1. You’ve got a lot going on, but taxes and anniversaries definitely take priority. I’m so impressed that Samantha speaks to you. My squirrel just points and runs away when I start following.

    1. Hi Marti. Thank you for your comment. Sometimes like this week real life does have to take priority over sewing time and I’m good with that most times. Sometimes the squirrel chatter has me going in circles! You know, where do I start? What do I do first? If Sam didn’t chatter she would be easier to ignore! 😉

  2. It’s a bummer when life gets in the way of sewing time, but it happens to all of us. I’m amazed at the few who manage to keep their percentages over 95%. It takes a lot of dedication to do that. Good luck with this week’s list. Hopefully you don’t have so many commitments this week.

  3. I first found you when you took on the To Do Tuesday list. From what you say I think you do all your sewing at a studio away from your house? I hope that is not a lot of running for you but you must need it to do it that way.

    1. Hi Karen. I actually do most of my piecing at home. My longarm is at my friend’s studio 4-5 hours drive away. I have no room for the longarm here. My favourite sewing machine is also there so I enjoy visiting them when I can manage the trip for a couple of days 😉

  4. Hi Carol! I’m so glad you could spend some extra time with D. I know how much she values your friendship and what a good friend you are. You’re priceless! I’m giggling about the squirrels running amok but you can handle it. {{Hugs}} a bunch for you! ~smile~ Roseanne
