This month’s hop has begun and I’d like to thank Joan from MooseStash Quilting for hosting and all of the other participants in the hop.
Our challenge for the hop:
“Are you sweet on treats?
Are you sweet on stitching a special project?
Are you sweet on, well anything you love?
Share it and let your sweetness inspire us all!”
The theme for this hop was appropriate because one of my most enjoyable loves is my DH and I never seem to make him anything so I needed to change this and show him some love in the sweetest way I know how (other than satisfying his incorrigible sweet tooth😉). My DH likes to get comfy in his recliner to watch tv, but often can’t get comfortable with having MS so I knew just what he needed!
I was inspired to do some handwork. I’ve not done any embroidery other than an eyeball or some lettering so I quickly grabbed some fabric and sketched out what I planned. It didn’t take long since I planned a simple project.
Once I had it embroidered, I put a border on it, sandwiched it and did some minimal SID quilting and add an envelope border. The pillow is for my DH for his recliner and was gifted to him for V-Day. ❤️

Then I volunteered to do some pattern testing for Sandra Healy Designs. I always enjoy Sandra’s patterns. They work up fairly quickly and I get to use a variety of scraps of favourite fabrics in the project.

Then Sandra came out with her Love Letters Block.

I used the 6 1/2” Sweethearts block for my SAHRR center block. The 12 1/2” blocks were both sandwiched, quilted and made in to pillows with envelope backs to add to my DH’s pillow stash. He often gets uncomfortable when he is sitting in his recliner and uses several pillows to prop various spots up.

Here is my trio of love notes for my DH in his chair waiting for him on Valentine’s Day. I must say he was tickled pink and even giggled a bit! 😉

I’m sharing the full participant’s list here in case you missed seeing anyone’s post:

Those are 3 really sweet pillows. I love the first one you made for your husband…so simple and yet so true. The others are just icing on the cake – also sweet.

Thank you Kathleen. I’m having more fun watching him use the pillow. If he puts it in his lap to hold his iPad he covers it with a cloth so it doesn’t get dirty 😊

Your pillows are just great, Carol! I love the embroidered one especially. Where did you find that design? (I might like to stitch that one!) Those are definitely sweet gifts for your DH!

Hi Diann. I just drew up the design based on a memory of a picture I had seen somewhere on line. It was fun to do and basic enough for my first embroidery project. 😊

Hi Roseanne. It was fun to hear him giggle and to watch him cover the pillow with a towel to make sure it didn’t get dirty or dusty. It DID make my heart happy. Thank you my friend for your sweet comment. 🤗

Thank you Kim. My sketching is competent if I’m not trying to get too detailed. It worked for this design even if it was a bit wobbly. 😉
