I’m going to be linking up with a fun group of bloggers over at LeeAnna’s blog, Not Afraid of Color. Everyone tries to share things that make them happy or they are grateful for.
Last week LeeAnna suggested we all share our favourite summer wardrobe items and I really liked seeing everyone else’s choices of summer wear.
I like that this week we are carrying that theme forward with suggestion for you about our favourite sunscreens.
I love waking up this morning to this:

You can tell we need the rain. Our grass is browning up and the recent lightning strikes have started several wildfires, none of which are too close to me. Is there anything sweeter than the air after a rainfall?
Now I will confess to not using sunscreen. In my defence I don’t have a yard or garden to maintain, so I am only outdoors when I’m driving or going for my walks. Since I live on a golf course that is connected to our local Trail system I can usually plan my walks so I’m in the shade. Living in a valley in British Columbia means we have plenty of trees, streams and rivers and it’s almost always possible to find some shade.

I like wearing caps to help keep the sun out of my eyes. It means I have better visibility in case I’m sharing the path with four legged creatures. At different times of the year we see bear, deer, elk, porcupine and peoples fur babies on the path so being able to keep an eye out is important 😎
The best way for me to keep cooler is to stay in my sewing corner. I like that the heat is a reason to stay indoors and sew.

This past week I was travelling back from helping K and D and had quite a misadventure (you can read about it here) and I so appreciate knowing that there still are superheroes in our world and some parents are taking the time to teach their children good old fashioned values; kindness, generosity, service to others.

Thank you for reading my post. I hope you are able to find some comfort if you are experiencing this crazy hot weather. 😉 Carol

You do live in a beautiful part of our province! I am thankful for the rain that we are getting today! 🙂

You have some beautiful views, Carol, and I would imagine that trail is a fun one to walk! Like you, I don’t wear sunscreen either, for many of the same reasons.

Thank you Wendy. It is pretty country. 😉 I also don’t use sunscreen because I often have allergic reactions to lotions or creams.

Carol your views are just heaven on earth! I can’t imagine walking in such a place. I love the peek at your sewing space.

It is wonderful scenery and our trail system is very well maintained so year round it’s wonderful. It’s too bad I’m not a skier because in the winter they groom the trails for skiing 😉

Hi Carol, that is a gorgeous part of the country to live in and yes, I can imagine your walks amongst tall firs and trees. Wonderful! That shot of your sewing room looks so much like mine; in fact, I have that very same tin that I’m keeping some hexie attempts right now. Anyway, hope you get enough rain to keep everything watered. Take care!

Thank you Jocelyn. It’s as pretty here as sis your part of the country. I love my tins; not only were the contents enjoyable but they do make great storage containers. Mine has little hexies in it, too! 😉

I don’t think I’ll ever tire of your view. 🙂 I’m with you on the sunscreen. I’ll use it when I kayak, since the sun beats down and reflects everywhere. But there’s a lot of shade, and I tend to be out in the early morning or late afternoon. A hat is a must! But not always the sunscreen.

Thank you Sally. Kayaking sounds like the perfect recreational activity. My buddy K got new kayaks last year and was going to take me out and teach me this year, but the best laid plans……
