Thursday’s Things I Like

I’m writing a post to share with a great group of friends who link up on LeeAnna’s blog Not Afraid of Color. The whole idea is to share things that make us smile.

Hand stitching binding always makes me smile! Almost another finish 😉

With the warm weather arriving I am enjoying making more salads and often have just salads for my dinner while DH is a meat and potatoes guy. Making 2 meals has become a norm for me along with adjusting recipes to not include onions or garlic because of DH’s allergies.

When I was in Alberta for Clarke’s memorial service my daughter gifted me with a new knife:

This has become my favourite newest gadget since I can get perfectly thinly sliced tomatoes for a BLT or nicely diced tomatoes for my salads. It also works with every other vegetable I’ve tried (except for broccoli or carrots).

2 more salads; broccoli with grapes, and onion-less Greek salad (olives will be added just before serving). Total prep time 15 minutes. 😄

The knife is manufactured by Pampered Chef and I can highly recommend it! Do you have a favourite kitchen gadget? Leave me a comment so I can look at getting some new tools please. 😉

In the meantime when I’m home I get to get out and enjoy some nice long walks in the morning before it gets too hot.

The Greens are starting to look a bit cooked, but the golfers are enjoying the course almost as much as I am!

Thank you for reading my post! Enjoy your day and upcoming weekend! 😎 Carol

I have been fondling fabric and creating things with fabric and fiber for as long as I can remember. My children had homemade clothes, blankets, canning and quilts most of their lives. Now I create goodies to share! Hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy making them! When I am not creating with fiber or fabric I keep busy with Dear Heart, kids, grandkids, great grandkids.

    1. Thank you. I’m sure your Wustoff knife is a game changer in the kitchen. I just got back in from another walk. It was too hot to go far, but I enjoyed seeing the hardy golfers still out there 😉

  1. Hi Carol! What a gorgeous view. Do you live right on the golf course? I know your DH loves to golf, so if you do that is very handy for him. I love a good knife. It makes all your kitchen work that much easier. {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne

    1. Hi Roseanne. Yes we do live in a suite in the clubhouse on the course. DH built the clubhouse 30 years ago just as his MS diagnosis came in. It was the last construction job he did. Fitting place for us to be 😉

  2. You have such beautiful views when you walk! I would love to see mountains when I go outside.
Years ago when the Ginsu knives first came on the scene, my husband bought me a pink ceramic knife that was much sharper than I was used to. I quickly learned to chop fast like I had seen on TV and ended up slicing my finger quite deeply. Seven stitches and an expensive trip to the ER earned that knife the title of most expensive knife ever. I still have it though and it is my favorite, although not nearly as sharp as it used to be!

    1. Hi Linda. The scenery here is pretty spectacular. I used to have a Ginsu knife and really loved it. Not sure what happened to it, but it could have been the one I also sliced my finger with and needed stitches! If it was the culprit it ended up in the garbage 😉
