2022 SAHRR

For my centre block I’m using a fun little block that I recently did for a pattern test for Sandra Healey of Sandra Healy Designs.

I was sure this sweet little cardinal would provide some inspiration for the upcoming clues for each round.

Round 1 was a prompt from Anja from Anja Quilts to use curves. Curves are not my favourite to sew, although Wendy at Piecefull Thoughts of my Quilting Life did a fun tutorial on Improv Curves that I was tempted to try. 😉

Instead I did wonky Curvy Log Cabin blocks;

I was late getting it finished since I snuck away for 2 days at the studio so I missed the linkup.

Then it was Emily at The Darling Dogwood’s turn to choose Diamonds for Round 2.

It was time to add some more colour to my little quilt, so I thought of a stained glass border and so my diamonds were easy to design, but working with those bias edges was a bit frustrating. 😳

Now I’m eagerly waiting to see what Roseanne and Sue from Home Sewn by Us will have for a prompt.

Are you stitching along on this fun challenge? It’s one I look forward to once I discovered it last year on Quilting Gail’s blog.

I’m so glad you stopped by to read my post, love answering comments, and take it as the biggest compliment if you follow my blog. The sign up is on my home page 😄 Carol

I have been fondling fabric and creating things with fabric and fiber for as long as I can remember. My children had homemade clothes, blankets, canning and quilts most of their lives. Now I create goodies to share! Hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy making them! When I am not creating with fiber or fabric I keep busy with Dear Heart, kids, grandkids, great grandkids.

    1. Thank you Gail. I was going to try Wendy’s improv curves but didn’t have the concentration to try something new. Now I can’t wait for the next prompt. This is as much fun as last year. 😃

  1. This is great! Purple is my favorite color, so I love that “my” round ended up in purple fabric 🙂 I really like how the movement of the diamonds brings your eye to that wonderful cardinal in your center. Lovely!

  2. Hi Carol! I just ADORE your center block – who doesn’t love cardinals?!! Those curves and wee diamonds highlight and accentuate Mr. Cardinal just perfectly. I can’t wait to see the next round. {{Hugs}} a bunch. ~smile~ Roseanne
