Carol from Just Let Me Quilt is the hostess for this hop. She has teamed up with Carla from Creatin’ in the Sticks and Joan from Moosestash Quilting to bring monthly blog hops to all of us for several more months. It’s sure to bring lots of inspiration in to all of our lives to jumpstart the creativity.

When Carol first posted the theme for the hop, I knew the perfect fabric existed in my stash;

“The “Born to be Wild” blog hop challenge is all about sewing something that’s jungle related. Like jungle animals, wild colors or designs, or jungle fabrics.”

Then I had to decide what to make since this past year and a bit since the Pandemic hit I have been trying to play from my stash and scrap bins. Fabric purchases were limited because I can never pick the “right fabrics” from photos on line. My other guideline is that I am trying to make functional items that I am using or gifting. Sounded easy? I was stumped until I received an email from Mari @ The Academic Quilter that I had won the EPP paper giveaway that she had on her blog.

What fun this will be!

Now I have been drooling over all of the pretty photos I have been seeing of the EPP projects so many online friends are doing that I really wanted to try it. It haven’t done much hand sewing for years and thought it would be a good idea to have another hand project to work on beside knitting, crocheting and sewing binding.

Of course I needed a bright pretty case so it was time to design a project bag that would keep everything organized and neat so I wouldn’t misplace any pieces.

Measuring and cutting, fusing stabilizer, layering and quilting began.

Palm trees, jungle huts, bright vivid colours; can’t you just feel the heat and humidity?

I was able to sew through 8 layers of fabric and 4 layers of various batting and stabilizer or fusible fleece on my newest toy!

The Janome Memory Craft 9400 QCP is a workhorse and has so many great features that I can’t wait to play some more with. It sure made this project a joy to make!

Here’s my jungle themed project bag:

Complete with binding.

The inside of the bag has pockets and zippered pockets to keep all of the fabric, papers and notions together (I think).

I’d like to thank Carol @Just Let Me Quilt for inspiring me to make a jungle themed project bag to brighten my spirits on those dark, cold winter nights which is when I do my handwork. I’d also like to thank you for reading my post. 😉

I have been fondling fabric and creating things with fabric and fiber for as long as I can remember. My children had homemade clothes, blankets, canning and quilts most of their lives. Now I create goodies to share! Hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy making them! When I am not creating with fiber or fabric I keep busy with Dear Heart, kids, grandkids, great grandkids.

    1. Thank you Wendy. I did have fun with this bag but remember hearing the advice from everyone making bags to just go slow so the bulk wasn’t as bad as I feared! I knew you had a Skyline so thought you would understand how thrilled I am 😁

  12. Love your project bag!!! It looks like the perfect bag!
    I, too, love Janome machines! Must admit, I have a few … 6500, 8900, M7, 500E and serger! I was definitely influenced when I worked in a store that sold them! 🙂 But each one is pretty fantastic!

    1. Thank you Gail 😊. You definitely are a Janome Girl and get first prize. I only have 3 and one can not be repaired when it breaks again. My tech had to crazy glue parts last time 😳

  14. Oh I love your project bag! Hope you enjoy the EPP. I keep all my stuff in a bag so I can just grab whenever I am ready to work, and not hunt looking for supplies.
