Day 2 Post Surgery

Another adventure has begun! Had the cataract surgery on Monday. I admit to being scared witless beforehand😩. All in all it took less than an hour from when I got to the hospital to walking out the door! My surgeon was fantastic and explained things as he was proceeding. He was satisfied with how everything went.

Yesterday I had to go to Nelson to see my optometrist for my first follow up appointment.

When he tested my left eye, my vision is almost 20/20. He then suggested we pop the lense out of my glasses in order for me to be able to see with both eyes.

My new fashion statement! No lenses in the left side!

I will babble a bit now because I can not believe the difference!

You know the colour of snow on the side of the road when the pole truck goes by? That yellowish, greyish tiny it gets? Well that is what white looks like with my right eye! My left eye sees white; real bright white! ….and colours! Oh My! Blues, reds, purples and pinks are incredible!

I am having a problem with depth perception and feel headachy reading is a bit problematic. But I can see colour and they are bright and beautiful and so vibrant! This morning I just sat and looked at fabric in my stash. They look new to me with the full spectrum of colour being so rich.

I started knitting a pair of socks to have something to do with my hands. I’m not able to sew yet so my quilt is still under the needle unfinished and there are probably typos in this post , but you know what? It’s not a problem because I can see and will possibly only need reading glasses when I get my right eye done!

I’ve been wearing glasses since I was six years old and can’t believe how little I actually saw!

Life is grand!

I hope you are sewing today and enjoying the gorgeous colours in your world! Just make sure you wear sunglasses in bright sunlight or snowy days. The light is the biggest cause of cataracts šŸ˜Ž. Wishing you all a great day! Carol

I have been fondling fabric and creating things with fabric and fiber for as long as I can remember. My children had homemade clothes, blankets, canning and quilts most of their lives. Now I create goodies to share! Hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy making them! When I am not creating with fiber or fabric I keep busy with Dear Heart, kids, grandkids, great grandkids.

  1. Praise the Lord, Carol!!! I am so glad your left eye can really SEE!!! I bet you are chomping at the bit to get your right eye done soon!!! Maybe when I have to have cataract surgery, I can get rid of the glasses as well – that would be a huge blessing!

  2. Hi Carol! I didn’t know what caused cataracts. Long ago my eye doctor told me that I had the start of cataracts, but that I should wear sunglasses whenever it was bright. My cataracts have corrected themselves as I wear sunglasses most of the time outside. Even on gray days, I still pop them on. I’m sure some people think I’m odd! And they’re right. ~smile~ Roseanne

    1. Hi Roseanne. I’m so glad you took the doctors advice to heart! Sunlight/bright lights is the main cause of cataracts from what my doctor said so you did the right thing by wearing sunglasses. I never wore them since I have worn glasses and couldn’t find any that fit over my glasses. It’s a hard lesson to learn but all I can say is it really is a miracle being able to see clearly again. šŸ˜‰ Carol
