Welcome to my post. I’ve not been able to post again since our numerous power outages crashed my router and I had to get a new one! Sure have to love technology.
I got intrigued a couple of years ago when I read a post on LeeAnna’s blog Not Afraid of Color where an amazing group of bloggers try to share happy, positive things that bring them (and us) joy and we can all use more of that these days.
With all of the crazy news and weird weather, we can all use some happy reading.
First and foremost I am happy to know my son is home with his family and not at work. He was able to let me know after a rough couple of days stressing that not only he, but all of the crews that work for his company were safely evacuated and the news continues to show people getting safely out of the UAE countries.
Our weather has been strange here with people playing golf in February (usually the course opens in April) and then a snowstorm hitting us in time for the kids to have an amazingly fun day during a fundraiser here on Family Day. They were able to go tobogganing and then warm up by the bonfire and have soup, chili, hot dogs or smokies for lunch. It was so much fun to watch them doing arts and crafts. We also had a great selection of board games so we also had seniors playing games with the kids!
Then our weather warmed up again and my DH was able to get out and play 2 holes of golf. 😉
For me, I’ve been having a blast getting out for walks. I love walking here in the spring when the trees and grass are just starting to green up. It’s perfect because the bears aren’t out yet 🤭

In between walks I’ve been doing a lot of stitching. I’m just finishing a pattern test for a designer I appreciate and I’m doing a commission for a friend. Her son is getting married in a few months so we had fun picking out fabrics that would be significant to both the groom and his lovely bride. As usual there is a twist to the commission. It is a huge quilt (over 100” square) and once it’s quilted, I have to add a pocket for their duvet to be tucked inside. All I can say is they will definitely be toasty warm when they crawl into bed. 🤭

Lately I’ve been making freezer meals when I go grocery shopping. It’s so much fun to get these meals together since I cook two meals for dinner most days. My DH is a very picky eater; allergic to onions and garlic, hates vegetables and spices. Me, on the other hand would only be too happy to eat lots of vegetables every day and I really do like herbs and spices. I take gallon ziplock bags; add in my protein, vegetables, sauces, seasoning and spices. Then I can freeze them and just pull out a bag to pop in the slow cooker when I need real food. This week I made; a beef, vegetable and Chinese spices meal, a beef stew with vegetables, potatoes and broth, a sweet and sour pork with lots of vegetables and a chicken in marinara sauce with lots of veggies. Each of those freezer meals makes 3-5 meals for me once cooked so I often made mini meals after the dishes have been cooked so I have something quick for those days when I have meetings or have to go to town.

I was talking to a neighbour with a greenhouse/market garden business. She said they’ll have produce ready in just a couple of weeks. I was thrilled at the thought of fresh garden produce so soon!

Lee Anna’s prompt last week was asking us about the worst haircut we’ve ever had. When I was 15 I decided I wanted to take hairdressing at evening classes so I could figure out if I wanted to do it as a career. I’d been working since I was 13 so I had saved money for “something special”. When I was taking my course each of the students became Guinea pigs for each other. I was lucky and always managed to get decent cuts. But we were getting ready for our graduation show. My instructor decided we all needed to colour our hair to match our grad outfits. We used a wash out colour. Unfortunately the green they used on my hair reacted to my body chemistry and it turned out fluorescent green and didn’t wash out for 3 weeks! Can’t you just imagine it back in 1971? 🤭
The best thing about it? I never did work as a stylist, but I’ve almost always cut my own hair. I tell myself it’s usually a good cut but once in a while my scissors slip ✂️🤭😲
Thanks for dropping in. I love our visits 😉 Carol
