Sunday Summary #238

Hello and welcome to my Sunday Summary where I share snippets of my life, set my stitching goals, and you get to see any progress I’ve made on my last To Do list. It’s been a couple of weeks since I’ve posted and let me tell you it’s been crazy here.

It started with such a fun fundraiser on Feb. 16th at the golf club. Snowmaggedon hit us and we had more snow on the ground than we’d had at any time all winter. The kids were able to go snow skating and sledding instead of playing disc golf and everyone enjoyed their warm up time by the fire. Huge pots of soup and chilli and hot dogs, smokies and baking were enjoyed by all. Arts and crafts and board games were a highlight with all ages joining in on the fun. 🤭

Then the weather changed to rain, causing barometric pressure changes and bringing on my least favourite events: migraines. I lost 3 days with limited time on line and lots of napping in a darkened room.

Then DH had some issues so it meant a lot of trips to town for appointments and tests. For me it also want a lot of time with migraines which changing barometric pressures and stress can bring on.

Then add to that the stress of trying to get hold of my son who works in a part of the world where war just broke out and you can imagine how I was doing for 36 hours waiting to hear he was safe. He’s at home now and all of the crews were safely evacuated, but plans are being formulated to get them back to work.

In the meantime I have been sewing with two major projects with time deadlines, but my times have been half an hour or an hour in between everything else that’s going on. 🤭

Now it’s time to see how I did with my goals for the week:

My Last To-Do Goals:

✅1. Host the fundraiser on Monday for the golf club. I’ll be cooking and serving complimentary vegetarian soup, beef chilli, smokies, hot dogs and cookies, cupcakes and squares to families within the valley. We have fun activities planned including demos and lessons of disc golf, arts and crafts, a selection of board games, and a bonfire to enjoy. Done and a good time was had by all! We fed 200 people! 😁

2. Get the pieces put together for all of my missed rounds from each of the following:

I have made progress by getting all of my blocks made but just didn’t get it all assembled completely yet. 😢

✅3. Try to finish the blocks for the Pattern Test. Only 12 more to go!

✅4. Keep playing with the commission quilt. Still more blocks to make, but I did make progress. Mount Scrapmore keeps getting rebuilt!

5. See if the next Project Quilting challenge is doable this week since the challenge is out. I did finish my project for the last challenge except for a button, but I didn’t get it sewn on or my post written and linked up. Now I’m working on a plan for this week’s challenge.😢

6. For a break from these intense projects, I’ll try to get some progress on the memory quilts, the quilt for Nova Scotia or the Butterflies and Owls projects. No progress 😢

✅7. Keep my squirrel, Samantha and her friends from sidetracking me from my list projects! 🐿️🐿️🐿️🐿️

This Week’s goals:

So it’s time to see what goals I have on my shortened list this week:

1. Get caught up with my SAHRR.

2. Get the pattern test quilt to flimsy stage by the end of the week to meet my deadline.

3. Keep working on the commission quilt.

4. For a break from these intense projects, I’ll try to get some progress on the memory quilts, the quilt for Nova Scotia or the Butterflies and Owls projects.

5. Do not allow my squirrel, Samantha and her friends to sidetrack me from my list projects! 🐿️🐿️🐿️🐿️

Stitchin’ Time

Kate from Life in Pieces hosts a weekly linky party to help us keep to our goals of stitching every day!

I’m trying for at least 30 minutes a day this year and 1 hour at the end of the week to tidy up and deal with my scraps. 🤔

  • January 31/31
  • February 25/28
  • this week 7/7
  • previous total: 49/52
  • Total: 56/59
  • Percentage = 94.92 %

How are you doing with your goal to stitch for at least 15 minutes each day? Have you joined Kate’s challenge? 😁

Stash Report

I like to link with Donna @ QuiltPaintCreate to keep track of fabric in and out of my stash. Last year I didn’t manage to use as much stash fabric as I planned since I don’t get to go to the studio and play on the long arm, but I’ve been working on finishing quilts on my dsm. 🤩

  • Fabric Used: 0 yards
  • Fabric Purchased this week: 0 yards
  • Fabric Previous Balance: 0 yards
  • Fabric Purchased this year: 0 yards
  • Balance in stash to use this year: 100 yards

* my goal is to lessen my stash by 100 yards this year but realistically I’ll be happy with whatever I manage.

* any fabric used from the scrap bins, was gifted or a prize; doesn’t count as stash!

Still nothing, but I have been sorting, measuring and pricing donated fabrics for our Guild fundraiser and know I’m going to be tempted to spend some money that day.

Memories of Quilts From the Past

This quilt lives in Israel now with a friend’s grandson.

Design Wall Mondays

Judy, at Small Quilts and Doll Quilts, hosts a linky party for “Design Wall Mondays” every week.

I’m including some photos of my current WIPs;

My UFO and WIP List

I’ve made some changes to my tracker, but look; there’s now 2 UFO’s completed in 2026. I’ll be linking with Ms. P. Designs and the PHD in 2026 Challenge

I have been fondling fabric and creating things with fabric and fiber for as long as I can remember. My children had homemade clothes, blankets, canning and quilts most of their lives. Now I create goodies to share! Hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy making them! When I am not creating with fiber or fabric I keep busy with Dear Heart, kids, grandkids, great grandkids.
