Sunday Summary #237

Hello and welcome to my Sunday Summary where I share snippets of my life, set my stitching goals, and you get to see any progress I’ve made on last week’s list.

I do hope you had a good Valentine’s Day, whether you get to celebrate with a partner or friends or even by celebrating you! ❤️💐🍾🥂

I had one crazy, busy week this week, picking up donations for our Guild fundraiser, 2 trips to town for tests, and cleaning/sanitizing the clubhouse kitchen to get ready for a fundraiser on Monday which is a statutory holiday here in British Columbia. It’s Family Day so we are having fun family activities, free food and drinks and of course, a bonfire. 🔥

In spite of real life I did manage to get my stitching time in every day, just to give myself the luxury of fabric therapy. 🤭

My Last To-Do Goals:

Now it’s time to see how I did with my goals for the week:

😢 1. Finish this week’s prompt for the SAHRR. Emily from Darling Dogwood has given us the 3rd prompt “Animal Kingdom”. I failed at this one because I need to use a specific piece of fabric and I don’t have enough for what I was thinking of doing. Instead I am going to wait and see what Wendy of Pieceful Thoughts has in store for us for border #4.

✅ 2. Keep making progress with the pattern test. I’ve completed approximately 3/4 of the blocks! 😁.

✅ 3. Make more progress on the Commission quilt. Almost half of the blocks done! 😁

Mount Trimmings is growing again! This is pile #6!

I really can’t wait to be able to show these quilts. I’m loving how they are coming together! 😁

4. For a break from these intense projects, I’ll try to get some progress on the memory quilts, the quilt for Nova Scotia or the Butterflies and Owls projects. No progress 🥹

✅ 5. Try to maintain some control with Samantha, my inner squirrel, and not allow her to sidetrack me to start anything new until I get some of these finished. 🐿️🐿️🐿️ Sam was not able to sidetrack me at all this week! 🤭

This Week’s goals:

So it’s time to see what goals I have on my shortened list this week:

1. Host the fundraiser on Monday for the golf club. I’ll be cooking and serving complimentary vegetarian soup, beef chilli, smokies, hot dogs and cookies, cupcakes and squares to families within the valley. We have fun activities planned including demos and lessons of disc golf, arts and crafts, a selection of board games, and a bonfire to enjoy.

2. Get the border on my SAHRR since Wendy from Pieceful Thoughts gave us prompt #4 to use curves which will work with last week’s prompt from Emily from The Darling Dogwood’s week 3 prompt Animal Kingdom if my idea comes together!

3. Try to finish the blocks for the Pattern Test.

4. Keep playing with the commission quilt.

5. See if the next Project Quilting challenge is doable this week since the challenge will be out today.

6. For a break from these intense projects, I’ll try to get some progress on the memory quilts, the quilt for Nova Scotia or the Butterflies and Owls projects.

7. Keep my squirrel, Samantha and her friends from sidetracking me from my list projects! 🐿️🐿️🐿️🐿️

Stitchin’ Time

Kate from Life in Pieces hosts a weekly linky party to help us keep to our goals of stitching every day!

I’m trying for at least 30 minutes a day this year and 1 hour at the end of the week to tidy up and deal with my scraps. 🤔

  • January 31/31
  • February 14/14
  • this week 7/7
  • previous total: 38/38
  • Total: 45/45
  • Percentage = 100 %

How are you doing with your goal to stitch for at least 15 minutes each day? Have you joined Kate’s challenge? 😁

Stash Report

I like to link with Donna @ QuiltPaintCreate to keep track of fabric in and out of my stash. Last year I didn’t manage to use as much stash fabric as I planned since I don’t get to go to the studio and play on the long arm, but I’ve been working on finishing quilts on my dsm. 🤩

  • Fabric Used: 0 yards
  • Fabric Purchased this week: 0 yards
  • Fabric Previous Balance: 0 yards
  • Fabric Purchased this year: 0 yards
  • Balance in stash to use this year: 100 yards

* my goal is to lessen my stash by 100 yards this year but realistically I’ll be happy with whatever I manage.

* any fabric used from the scrap bins, was gifted or a prize; doesn’t count as stash!

Another trip to the LQS, but nothing came home 😉

Memories of Quilts From the Past

This was a Pattern Test I did for the Quilt Pattern Magazine. I do not have the pattern since it was on the computer that had the hard drive that crashed, which taught me to back up everything to a stick AND the cloud. 😲

Design Wall Mondays

Judy, at Small Quilts and Doll Quilts, hosts a linky party for “Design Wall Mondays” every week.

I’m including some photos of my current WIPs;

My UFO and WIP List

I’ve made some changes to my tracker, but look; there’s now 2 UFO’s completed in 2026. I’ll be linking with Ms. P. Designs and the PHD in 2026 Challenge

I have been fondling fabric and creating things with fabric and fiber for as long as I can remember. My children had homemade clothes, blankets, canning and quilts most of their lives. Now I create goodies to share! Hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy making them! When I am not creating with fiber or fabric I keep busy with Dear Heart, kids, grandkids, great grandkids.
