January was a busy month with Guild activities (organizing for our annual fundraiser, sorting and pricing over half a shed full of donations which is scary since we haven’t even started collecting for this year. That was just what came in as crafters got ready to move or passed on). There was also some fundraising events at the Golf Club and so many meetings for both Societies’ Executive and Board Members. A health issue has slowed me down a bit, but just look where we are at for the first month of the year:
1. January 2. “Hooty Who“ a flannel quilt for a sweet baby boy due in 2 weeks. 40” x 48” machine pieced. FM Quilted on my DSM – fabrics from my stash.

Read about it here
2. January 5. “Project Quilting 17.1 – A Clean Slate” 5” x 13” a sweet mini to hang on my gifted mini quilt rack; using leftovers instead of putting them in my scrap bin.

3. January 9 “ Dragonfly Needlepoint” Gift Box – needlepoint mounted on Box Lid and the box is filled with organic teas and gifted to a friend after returning home from a gruelling 7 hour surgery.

3. January 24th – Project Quilting 17.2 Scads of Plaid – a Memory Pillow 16” square. Made for the wife of one of DH’s family who passed. The shirt was the last one I saw Dan wearing on the golf course. Complete with pockets for “treasures” and a grey cotton T-shirt underneath just as Dan wore them. You can find the post here.

I had a friend contact me when she decided she needs a king size quilt (at first it was queen size 😲) for a wedding gift for her son. We got to spend several hours chatting, looking at patterns and fabric. Then I was given instructions to use what ever pattern I chose or designed (after getting to know her son and daughter in law’s likes) and we chose some appropriate fabrics. Can’t share any photos of this project.
I also started a pattern test of a queen size pattern which includes both piecing and FPP for a designer I really enjoy. Can’t share anything about this project.
But here we are for the end of the first month of 2026.

I hope you enjoyed a look at my progress this month. 😁 Carol
