Sunday Summary #234

Hello and welcome to my To Do List and see any progress I’ve made on last week’s list.

First let me tell you it was a week filled with fabric fun and more adventures with those little furry creatures that have infested the building because of the restaurant upstairs in the clubhouse.

I have to tell you this isn’t my first go round living in the country. I’ve had the habit for several decades of keeping my food supplies in glass jars, plastic bins or the cans they come in. I don’t have packages or boxes of anything in my cupboards or pantry. I even keep my spice jars in a plastic bin. I have traps set and am catching 3-8 of the little monsters every day. I finally went upstairs today and in the basement storage when another Board member was here with me today. The lease operators obviously haven’t listened to me. There were paper sacks of panko crumbs and rice (well chewed and spilling all over the floor) in the basement storage, and the kitchen shelves are full of chewed boxes of foodstuffs (and poop). Its awful!

Then this evening I had just made a cup of tea and sat in my chair to write my post, and one of the little monsters ran across my foot! 🐁. At least I didn’t shriek and scare poor DH half to death this time (but I did swear that if this continues, we are moving).

The most fun I had this week was having 3 days at the Guild, sorting and pricing donations for our fundraiser. We have an amazing variety of fabrics, notions, pillow forms, equipment, fleece and lots of yarn; acrylics, blends and some incredible natural fibres. Our shed is almost 3/4 full already of priced goods and we haven’t started advertising yet. I’ve been doing this volunteer job for 12 years and we often get clothing to upcycle. The donations come in bags or boxes and for the first time ever, one of the boxes contained some torn underwear! 🤭🥹. We weren’t sure if we should laugh, cry, or ?

I was so surprised to see that I was featured on Wednesday Wait Loss on The Inquiring Quilter for my little Dragonfly Piece. Thank you Jennifer 😊

My Last To-Do Goals:

Now it’s time to see how I did with my goals for the week:

1. Continue with my plan for making my quilt top from my crumb blocks and leftover panel blocks. No progress other than looking at it 😢

✅2. Continue working on the blocks for the quilt for C’s friend in Nova Scotia now that I have a size sorted for the blocks. I had various sized blocks and needed to determine a layout and how to increase the size of some of the blocks. A bit of progress, but nothing really to show. 😢

✅3. Finish more blocks for the memory quilts. I did manage to quilt 2 more blocks 😊

4. Work on binding the stack of quilts. No progress. Stitching time in the evening was taken up with pattern drafting instead 😉

✅5. Start on the first prompt on my version of the SAHRR when it comes out. The prompt is out and it’s the Hourglass Block! I’ve got my blocks made and should finish mine tomorrow.

✅6. Finalize my design for the wedding quilt, get the approval and choose the fabrics. I have my design drafted, now I just need the approval and to pull fabrics.

✅7. If I can manage the time, do a project for Project Quilting 17.2. I was able to get my project done with the help of my DH’s sister in law. You can read about it here.

8. Keep Samantha and her squirrel buddies from distracting me again or sidetracking me from my list. Complete fail this week! Sam drew my attention to a message asking if I could do a pattern test and I really had no option but to say yes! 🤣

This Week’s goals:

Should be a good week. I only have 2 committee meetings and DH has 1 appointment I have 2 days in the clubhouse to collect Seasons Pass fees from our members, but I can take a machine or my cutting mat, rotary cutter and fabrics with me. 🤭

1. Finish this round of the SAHRR and get my post up.

2. Pull the fabrics and start cutting for the commission quilt.

3. Pull fabrics and start on the pattern test.

4. Work on the Nova Scotia blocks to get them to uniform sizes.

5. Work on the Butterfly and Owl blocks to get the flimsy done.

6. If I can quilt a few more memory quilt blocks.

7. Do not let Samantha add anything else to my list; stay on track this week; no being sidetracked.

Stitchin’ Time

Kate from Life in Pieceshosts a weekly linky party to help us keep to our goals of stitching every day!

I’m trying for at least 30 minutes a day this year and 1 hour at the end of the week to tidy up and deal with my scraps. 🤔

  • January 24/31
  • this week 7/7
  • previous total: 17/17
  • Total: 24/24
  • Percentage = 100 %

How are you doing with your goal to stitch for at least 15 minutes each day? Have you joined Kate’s challenge? 😁

Stash Report

I like to link with Donna @ QuiltPaintCreate to keep track of fabric in and out of my stash. Last year I didn’t manage to use as much stash fabric as I planned since I don’t get to go to the studio and play on the long arm, but I’ve been working on finishing quilts on my dsm. 🤩

  • Fabric Used: 0 yards
  • Fabric Purchased this week: 0 yards
  • Fabric Previous Balance: 0 yards
  • Fabric Purchased this year: 0 yards
  • Balance in stash to use this year: 100 yards

* my goal is to lessen my stash by 100 yards this year but realistically I’ll be happy with whatever I manage. I was gifted a sweet little quarter yard from a dear friend, but gifts don’t add to my stash!😉

* any fabric used from the scrap bins, was gifted or a prize; doesn’t count as stash!

Still holding strong!

I have been fondling fabric and creating things with fabric and fiber for as long as I can remember. My children had homemade clothes, blankets, canning and quilts most of their lives. Now I create goodies to share! Hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy making them! When I am not creating with fiber or fabric I keep busy with Dear Heart, kids, grandkids, great grandkids.
