Project Quilting 17.2 Scads of Plaid

Check out the theme for this week’s challenge here. Trish and Kim always come up with some good ones.

This prompt was unbelievably perfect for me this week.

We lost a very special man last week, a in law member of DH’s family. He was a sweet, intelligent, artistic man who loved music, played in a band, was an incredible blacksmith, loved golf and being involved in both family and community.

His oldest stepdaughter and I are very close so I asked her opinion on an idea I had. Then I garnered her help to smuggle something out of the house her stepdad and his wife lived in.

After some measuring, cutting and sewing I ended up with this;

Dan loved his plaid shirts, always worn with a grey T-shirt underneath; flannel in the winter and cotton in the summer. This particular shirt was the one he was wearing his last day on the golf course last summer.

I was able to get it finished and delivered today.

Now his wife has a comfort pillow to cuddle when she needs a hug if none of us are around. I purposely left the pockets because Dan always had treasures in his pockets to be able to gift his loved ones. I also wanted to leave the collar on to show that I had made a liner of grey T-shirt fabric.

Thank you Kim and Trish for another wonderful prompt.

I have been fondling fabric and creating things with fabric and fiber for as long as I can remember. My children had homemade clothes, blankets, canning and quilts most of their lives. Now I create goodies to share! Hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy making them! When I am not creating with fiber or fabric I keep busy with Dear Heart, kids, grandkids, great grandkids.
