Hello and welcome to this week’s Sunday Summary. I hope you are all having a wonderful Labor Day weekend, celebrating the history of our workforce and workplace improvements.
My weekend is being spent at the studio with D. I was able to get away since our good friends got back home and have a habit of checking in on DH every day (she is a nurse so I trust her implicitly).
There was a panic to get here. D ended up at Urgent Care and then the Emergency department so I needed to get here asap. With her history of AFIB, the swelling in her feet and legs to twice normal size and a horrendous rash was an indicator that she needed some attention. It’s been a bit hectic with tests, bloodwork and appointments. Now we are playing the waiting game 🙏🏻
In the meantime I did get to help with some of the needed repairs, chores and help finish some of her renovations. To date she has been busy having new quartz countertops in the kitchen, one bathroom and laundry room, new flooring in the laundry room and 2 of the upstairs bathrooms, and so much more I keep seeing new things every room I walk in! I have painted 4 of the inside doors, painted moulding (crown and baseboard) and will get to install them tomorrow. I also put new shelf liner in all of the kitchen and bathroom cupboards and shelves. On top of that I have been able to visit my favourite machines, spend some quality time with them and enjoy some fabric fondling. 😅
My Last To-Do Goals:
1. Keep working on my EPP, embroidery and embroidery sampler as time and my eyesight allow. No progress. 😢
2. Try to finish binding the four now five quilts. I forgot to bring them with me! 😢
3. Finish the memory quilts for my son and granddaughters from a collection of T-shirts from my son, DIL and granddaughters and our Clarke’s clothing. I have the first of the memory quilts on the frame! 😃

4. Keep playing with the orphan blocks and goodies from Denise, with some additions from my stash, to use up more bits and pieces until those project boxes are empty. With travelling to the studio I didn’t have much time to complete much more on this project. 😁

5. Finish making the blocks from my crumb blocks before Monique hands me another bag of Tula Pink scraps. No progress on this project this week. 😢
6. Start pulling and cutting fabric for my project for another fun blog hop. I’ve begun working on this one! 😃

7. Do not let Samantha or any of her squirrel buddies side track me🐿🐿🐿🐿. Samantha got me again, but it’s secret sewing so I can’t share just yet.😁

This Week’s goals:
Now it’s time for my new To Do Tuesday List:

Stitchin’ Time

Kate from Life in Pieces hosts a weekly linky party to help us keep to our goals of stitching every day.
I’m trying for at least 30 minutes a day this year and 1 hour at the end of the week to tidy up and deal with my scraps. I wasn’t really off to a good start, but it is getting better as things settle down in my real life time and commitments lessen. 🤔
- January 21/31
- February 27/29
- March 27/31
- April 20/30
- May 26/31
- June 22/30
- July 31/31
- August 24/31
- this week 7/7
- Previous Total 191/226
- Total: 198/244/
- Percentage = 81.15 %
I hope you all get to set and keep your goals for your Stitching Time and join Kate. 😁

Stash Report

I like to link with Donna @ QuiltPaintCreate to keep track of fabric in and out of my stash. If I can plan a trip to the studio I expect my stash to be reduced terrifically when I start making backings for all of the quilt tops I’ve got to do. 😁
- Fabric Used: 8 yards
- Fabric Purchased this week: 0 yards
- Fabric Previous Balance: 63 yards
- Fabric Purchased this year: 0 yards
- Balance in stash to use this year: 55 yards
* my goal is to lessen my stash by 100 yards this year. I haven’t managed to actually figure out how much fabric I really have in my stash, but I have reduced my stash these past few years and only purchase fabric if I need it for a particular project. If I do purchase fabric I add it to my Balance in stash to use this year in order to continue reducing my stash. 😉
* any fabric used from the scrap bins, was gifted or a prize; doesn’t count as stash!

I’m continually amazed at all the care you give to so many people. I’m sure D appreciates the time you spend with her. Glad you get to visit your machines, too – a little creative fun for you, I hope!

Thanks Wendy. My son keeps telling me I should start a business helping people. I tell him that would ruin it. Stitching time has definitely been on my calendar this week. 😉

Hi Carol. I hope this lets me post this time. For some reason it never likes my ipad. I absolutely love those gold and purple log cabins. Of course all of your projects are lovely. You have definitely made forward progress. That is always the point and to remember to enjoy the journey!

That’s a lot of home repair tasks you did, plus all the medical stuff. Some cute projects going with the donated fabric.

Thank you Donna. I try to help my friend when I get there so I’ve developed a schedule; mornings I play with fabric until she gets up, then we have breakfast and spend some time on chores. After dinner and a movie it’s long arm time or more time with my favourite sewing machine. It seems to be working!

You’ve had a busy week, Carol. I hope your friend does well and they find out why she is having so much edema. Hope DH does well too. It’s great you have friends you trust to check on him. I hope you get more done on your projects as time permits. Thanks for sharing with us at Monday Musings. Have a great week!

Thank you Brenda. It was busy but we did get most of the swelling down. DH had too much fun eating all the junk food he could find and played a couple of holes of golf every day. I managed stitching time every day with the new schedule D and I devised. Thank you for hosting us on Monday Musings.🤗
