Sunday Summary #172

It’s been another week of smoke filled skies, and planes, helicopters and firefighters doing their jobs trying to fight back the wildfires.

I have been at the Resiliency Center every day this week again. We added new services that we were able to provide to our community; art therapy, an improved kids play are and daily briefings from BCWFS.

Each day the information Officers from BC Wildfire Services come in to provide the most important thing to our evacuees; up to date information on the progress they are making and how the fire is spreading.

My coworker and I do the best we can, offering drinks, snack and ever so many hugs. We’ve shared some tears and had to talk people down and leave the center drained, but feeling like we are contributing to our community’s well being.

My Last To-Do Goals:

1. Keep working on my EPP, embroidery and embroidery sampler as time and my eyesight allow. No progress. 😢

2. Try to finish binding the four now five quilts. I’m still down to only 3” left on the quilt I take with me to the center, having had no time to sit and stitch.🤗

3. Finish the memory quilts for my son and granddaughters from a collection of T-shirts from my son, DIL and granddaughters. I’ve made no progress 😢

One down; 3 or 4 to go! 🤣

4. Keep playing with the orphan blocks and goodies from Denise and the Tula Pink scraps from Monique, with some additions from my stash, to use up more bits and pieces until those project boxes are empty. I have not had any time or energy this week to put needle or thread to work.😁

5. Do not let Samantha or any of her squirrel buddies side track me🐿🐿🐿🐿. 😁 Samantha kept herself and her squirrel buddies under control this week!

This Week’s goals:

Now it’s time for my new To Do Tuesday List which I should make some progress on since I have 2 scheduled quilting days at the Guild.

1. Keep working on my EPP, embroidery and embroidery sampler as time and my eyesight allow.

2. Try to finish binding the four now five quilts. 😉

3. Finish the memory quilts for my son, granddaughters and Clarke’s family from a collection of T-shirts from my son, DIL and granddaughters and our Clarke’s clothing.

4. Keep playing with the orphan blocks and goodies from Denise, with some additions from my stash, to use up more bits and pieces until those project boxes are empty.

5. Keep making crumb blocks until I can start urging them for my next quilt.

6. Start planning my project for another blog hop.

Stitchin’ Time

Kate from Life in Pieces hosts a weekly linky party to help us keep to our goals of stitching every day.

I’m trying for at least 30 minutes a day this year and 1 hour at the end of the week to tidy up and deal with my scraps. I wasn’t really off to a good start, but it is getting better as things settle down in my real life time and commitments lessen. 🤔

  • January 21/31
  • February 27/29
  • March 27/31
  • April 20/30
  • May 26/31
  • June 22/30
  • July 31/31
  • August 3/10
  • this week 0/7
  • Previous Total 177/212
  • Total: 177/212
  • Percentage = 82.9 %

I hope you all get to set and keep your goals for your Stitching Time and join Kate. 😁

Stash Report

I like to link with Donna @ QuiltPaintCreate to keep track of fabric in and out of my stash. If I can plan a trip to the studio I expect my stash to be reduced terrifically when I start making backings for all of the quilt tops I’ve got to do. 😁

  • Fabric Used: 0 yards
  • Fabric Purchased this week: 0 yards
  • Fabric Previous Balance: 63 yards
  • Fabric Purchased this year: 0 yards
  • Balance in stash to use this year: 63 yards

* my goal is to lessen my stash by 100 yards this year. I haven’t managed to actually figure out how much fabric I really have in my stash, but I have reduced my stash these past few years and only purchase fabric if I need it for a particular project. If I do purchase fabric I add it to my Balance in stash to use this year in order to continue reducing my stash. 😉

* any fabric used from the scrap bins, was gifted or a prize; doesn’t count as stash!

Design Wall Mondays

Judy, at Small Quilts and Doll Quilts, hosts a linky party for “Design Wall Mondays” every week.

I’m including some photos of my project bins filled some of the fun little blocks, bits and pieces and fabric that Denise sent to me, and my orphan blocks and fabric from my stash, that I’m working playing with to come up with some new quilts for an upcoming charity event;

PHD in 2024

This year you can join the fun and challenge at Ms P Designs USA 😉

Thank you for stopping by and reading my post. Your comments make my day and I do reply to each one. 😉 Carol

I have been fondling fabric and creating things with fabric and fiber for as long as I can remember. My children had homemade clothes, blankets, canning and quilts most of their lives. Now I create goodies to share! Hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy making them! When I am not creating with fiber or fabric I keep busy with Dear Heart, kids, grandkids, great grandkids.

  1. The volunteer work you do is so important, but I get that it can be incredibly draining too. So glad that you’ve not had to evacuate, but still sorry you have all the smoke and stuff to contend with. Enjoy your two days sewing with the guild, sounds like you need a break to find some joy for yourself.

    1. Thank you Kate Being there for my community is important but I confess to looking forward to being unplugged from media and phone and indulging in fabric therapy for two whole days 🤗
