Hello and welcome to my day on one of the most fun themed challenges for the Sew It – Show It Monthly Blog Hops! It’s the brainchild of Carol from Just Let Me Quilt. I really want to thank Carol for the one Blog Hop theme that I didn’t have any trouble thinking of a project 😉
What is more fun than a picnic on a hot summer day? The projects we have been working on for your inspiration, of course! 😉
As soon as I saw the theme I knew what I wanted to make so out came a couple of charm packs that I had been hoarding saving for the perfect project.
I had fun using my Accuquilt Cutter and Dies to get my fabrics cut. Then it was time for some hand sewing.

I managed to get my blocks made and then life became a real whirlwind of insanity.
For those of you who don’t know me, I live in a suite in the basement of a Golf Course Clubhouse which my DH built in 1967. It was his last building project before his diagnosis of MS. Both my hubby and I sit on the Board that runs the Club which is a non-profit society. On June 12 our Clubhouse Manager walked out at 10:30 am which left us in a pickle. I stepped in to get things organized and work until we could find a new Manager. Since June 12th I’ve been working between 60-75 hours a week, but everything is clean, organized and my staff are working together like a bunch of happy campers. I did manage a whole day off this past week and even did some sewing.
So I will share photos of my flimsy and a few closeups of some of the fun fabrics I used.

Unfortunately this has meant that my quilt became a flimsy, but has not yet been quilted. Instead it is sitting folded with backing and binding waiting until I can get to the studio to put it on the long arm.

In the meantime here are the incredible participants for the Monday list:
I hope you show your appreciation for everyone’s work by commenting on their posts and if you really enjoy what you see, don’t hesitate to subscribe to their blogs! 😉
Thank you for stopping by and please accept my apologies for my post being late going live. I forgot to schedule it. 😳 Carol

I had no idea you lived on a golf course! What a nightmare to get stuck working that many hours, but you’re a quilter and quilters can do anything. LOL Seriously, though, I hope you’ve got yourself a new manager and have more time for yourself. I love this flimsy and each little block is so sweet…great fabrics! Thank you for sharing your picnic party with us. xo

Thank you Carol. My golf course is a lovely location (especially in the winter when there’s no one around 😉). I’m still managing the clubhouse, but keeping my fingers crossed that I’ll get time to sew soon! I love the Picnic Party theme so hope I can finish this one soon. 😉

I think flimsys are just fine…means you now always have something to finish! It is great, though, and I love all the hand-stitching you did to make the top work for a picnic. Sorry to hear about how that ‘manager’ left you in the lurch; so glad that you are able to step in and make things work.

Hi Joy. Would it be terrible to admit that I do not play golf? In fact the last time I tried I was asked to leave the course because I hit my daughter with my golf ball when she was standing behind me! Thank you for your sweet comment about my buggy quilt. 😉
