Thursday’s Things to be Grateful For

Im managing to sit and write a post to share with a great group of friends who link up on LeeAnna’s blog Not Afraid of Color. The whole idea is to share things that make us smile.

I love this Province where I live. It’s is filled with incredible scenery with everything from mountains and lakes to stunning desert vistas.

Along with that goes the people and activities. Music Festivals abound and there are always new or different trails to hike.

One of the best things in life is being able to see my children, grandchildren and now great grandchildren grow and become people confident in their own skin.

Travelling back and forth from the studio and helping my friends and taking care of my DH allows me the chance to check different restaurants along the route. When I left Oyama yesterday late afternoon, I had to stop and pick up a few things that were needed at home to get us through this morning so I could put off getting groceries until this evening.

I stopped at Tim Horton’s en route to grab a latte and was tempted by one of their new loaded bowls. I don’t have a huge appetite any more so this Cilantro Lime Veggie bowl was perfect with the addition of some chicken. I took it with me since there is a wonderful rest stop on the way home that I usually take a break at to get out of the car and get a much needed walkabout to ease my back and legs from the 5 hour drive.

With the heat and travelling (I don’t use air conditioning) I needed a nap at my mountain top stop. Once it was a bit cooler I woke refreshed and armed with two more bottles of water, hit the road again.

DH was sleeping when I arrived home and it was such a sound sleep he didn’t even know I was home and unloading the car and putting my shopping away.

He was up and about early to play a round of golf and came in to a treat from a favourite bakery. That man has such a sweet tooth and loves his chocolate so it was fun to surprise him with a bakery goodie!

I cleaned the apartment, did laundry and got the binding ready for a quilt project. Now I’m finishing my post and then heading to town for a big grocery shop. Dinner is planned so once I get home and put everything away and make/eat dinner, I can enjoy an evening of sewing binding by machine to the front of a quilt and then hand sewing it on the back can commence.

Good thing I don’t have a garden any more 😉

I have been fondling fabric and creating things with fabric and fiber for as long as I can remember. My children had homemade clothes, blankets, canning and quilts most of their lives. Now I create goodies to share! Hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy making them! When I am not creating with fiber or fabric I keep busy with Dear Heart, kids, grandkids, great grandkids.

  1. Gosh I enjoyed your post! Your part of Canada looks amazing with those mountain views. Your photos of are wonderful – what a beautiful family. My fave is the one of you sewing with your granddaughter. You look too young to have great grandchildren!

  2. Love your views. And so many happy faces. 🙂 Baked chocolate goodies are always yummy! Ooh – that may save the scarecrow, but I’d hate to think where I’d itch from bug bites and prickly nettles! LOL
