Weekly Goals and To-Do Tuesday #100

I’ll be linking up with To-Do Tuesday which is being hosted by Linda from Texas Quilt Gal. This is my 100th ToDo post. I started writing them when Roseanne and Sue from Home Sewn By Us was hosting it. I can’t believe my last link up was April 17th. So much has happened since then, but very little was in the quilting department. Instead real life took precedence.

I have been to the studio to spend some time with K and D, but was busy and didn’t have any time with my long arm. I’ll just remind myself that it will be there in a week or so when I hope to get back.

I was crazy busy getting ready for my Guild’s fundraiser. It was a beautiful day, and we managed to raise almost $8,000.00 in 4 hours of seeing smiling happy faces.

I left a few days later after I had recovered from the worst of a nasty cold. With highway closures and road construction and having to take the long way around, I made it to my daughter’s place at 2:30 in the morning.

After 3 hours of sleep, it was time to re-load the car and head to Grand Prairie. It was only 8 1/2 hours drive this time! I had forgotten how flat the northern part of Alberta is.

We had a lovely 2 bedroom apartment to stay in so managed to get a good night’s sleep. The next day was time for Clarke’s Memorial Service which was lovely and so hard at the same time.

After the service we headed to Ryan and April’s place to spend some time together. It was a joy to spend time with 2 of my kids, their spouses and so many of the grandkids and great grandkids.

Then I managed to get a fuzzy photo with my oldest son and my daughter.

All of my immediate family that were present gathered to get a four generations photo. It makes me feel old to have this many progeny around! 😉

Unfortunately one of my granddaughters and her stepsister are missing as they had to do a grocery store run! This crew was hungry and needed to be fed more than what we had ready!

The next day we headed back to my daughter’s place and then I had two days to help her get a few things organized before she has her knee replacement surgery.

Then it was time for the 16 1/2 hour drive back home. Once home, it was so nice to get a hug from DH and sleep in my own bed! 😉

Since I’ve been home I’ve been busy cleaning, rearranging furniture, grocery shopping and then having to go back to town for some of DH’s meds. Still no sewing has happened, but tomorrow is a new day.

Last To-Do list:

1. Keep working on my hand quilting and EPP projects. Made some progress on both projects.

2. Finish my Wonderful World of Color Blog Hop post with better photos now that our weather has cleared up again. Done and published.

3. Start cutting and piecing fabrics for a new pattern test now that I have decided on fabrics. Cutting is done and sewing has commenced.

4. Finish my next Blog Hop project for May being hosted by Carla from Creatin in the Sticks, get some photos and write my post.

5. Check to see if my plan for my project for the Here Comes the Sun Blog Hop being hosted by Carol from Just Let Me Quilt will work.

6. Keep working with the other Board Members of our Guild to have everything in order for our fundraiser on the 24th.

7. Keep working on re-organizing my sewing space to see if I can get a better working arrangement.

So many more tries at rearranging things. I just might finish it up tomorrow so I can start sewing.

8. Do not allow any squirrels to distract me this week. 🐿

This week’s goals:

1. Keep working on my hand quilting and EPP projects.

2. Make the time to get my photos and post written for the Foodie Blog Hop.

3. Pull my fabrics for Here Comes the Sun Blog Hop in June.

4. Start the new pattern test.

5. Get to work on a new commission due in 3 weeks 😳

6. Do not allow Samantha or any other squirrels distract me this week. 🐿😉🐿

Stitchin’ Time

Kate from Kates Life in Pieces hosts a weekly linky party to help us keep to our goals of stitching every day.

I’m trying for at least 30 minutes a day this year, but also want to at least spend 30 minutes a week tidying up and dealing with scraps.

Since my last To-Do List I have managed to keep to my goal of stitching every day and even got to play with my machine this week, and even emptied the 3 units I keep my less than a yard pieces of fabric in to re-fold and re-sort the colour families since they had really gotten messed up lately. I’ve also been busy putting in 4-8 hours most days working at the Guild to be ready for our fundraiser next weekend.

  • January 31/31
  • February 28/28
  • March 26/31
  • April 6/30
  • this week 1/7
  • This month 1/8
  • Total: 92/127
  • Percentage = 73.4 %

Stash Report:

I like to link with Donna @ Quilt Paint Create to keep track of fabric in and out of my stash.

  • Fabric previous balance: 76 Yards
  • Fabric Used: 0. yards
  • Fabric Bought: 0 yards
  • Balance in stash to use this year: 76 Yards

* my goal is to lessen my stash by 100 yards this year. I haven’t managed to actually figure out how much fabric I really have in my stash so it just seems to be reasonable to set a goal to continue working from my stash.

* any fabric used from the scrap bins, was gifted or a prize; doesn’t count as stash

Quilting Gail is hosting her PHD in 2022 Challenge again this year. 😄

I do enjoy sharing some of your time when you read my posts and reply to each comment. 😄 Carol

I have been fondling fabric and creating things with fabric and fiber for as long as I can remember. My children had homemade clothes, blankets, canning and quilts most of their lives. Now I create goodies to share! Hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy making them! When I am not creating with fiber or fabric I keep busy with Dear Heart, kids, grandkids, great grandkids.

  1. WOWEE, Carol! What a whirlwind the last few weeks and what a LOT of driving. I can only imagine how good it felt to get that hug from DH and sleep in your own bed with your own pillow. Nothing beats home, does it?!! It looks like a lovely service for sweet Clarke. I continue to hold all of you in my prayers – it’s hard to find comfort anywhere and it’s so hard to understand/comprehend. Good luck with your list this week. Those sound like fun blog hops! {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne

    1. Hi Roseanne. A whirlwind? Yes that is exactly what it has been like. So many tears, hugs, smiles and so much laughter at and with family. It is good to be home, trying to get organized and do some sewing. Life does go on after all. 😉

  2. Bittersweet photos of all your family Carol. I don’t think I’ve ever been to Grande Prairie; a few times to Peace River, which is further north but east of GP, which I’m sure you know. That is one long drive! Don’t think I could have done it alone! What a great success for your guild, like wowsers. Have fun with the rearranging, oh, and your UFO list is identical to mine, yikes. I am working on my second UFO though but I don’t know if I’ll get 12!

    1. Hi Sandra. Yes the photos are bittersweet but the hugs and cuddle times were wonderful. I enjoyed visiting Peace River a few times over the years, but hadn’t been in GP in 30 years. It’s changed a bit 😉. The drive was long but I had some good audiobooks to keep me company. That UFO list is starting to haunt me 😳

I know you will make your PhD 😉

  3. Oh my goodness Carol, the driving! And the fundraiser was a huge success thanks to you. 😉 What a lovely service for Clarke, and the family time is the best. Thank you for sharing photos of you and your family. Was there no group of folks (church, friends, neighbors) to cook for your bunch? I wish I could have – I love cooking for a crowd and would have given me joy to cook for you. I’m so glad you had a safe trip and have been able to get back into your routine. Good luck with your 3-week deadline on the commission!
Thank you for sharing with To Do Tuesday!

    1. Hi Linda. The fundraiser was a great success and too much fun. My grandson and his wife had only moved to the town a few months before and haven’t made many connections yet, so we just took care of feeding the crew ourselves. We are pretty good at it! 😉The best part of the trip was watching the kids play and getting to finally meet my two great grandchildren I’d not yet. Oh wait, the hugs and the cuddles with the littles were the best, or maybe seeing two of my children, or maybe just being able to cry together and really start healing. In other words it was a trip filled with highs and lows. It is good to be home. Now I just have to quit re-arranging furniture over and over again and settle down 😳Thank you for your sweet comments. 😄

  4. You were very brave to drive so far away alone, the music or the audio books have to be very good! So sorry about the goal of this family meeting, but as you said, they are such a source of love.
Enjoy your sewing and relaxing time at home.
    Hugs

    1. Thank you. It was a lot of driving. I just kept reminding myself that I like to drive and someone was waiting at the end of the drive. 😉 seeing family sure kept me going, in more ways than one.

  5. You certainly have had a busy and emotional time lately Carol. A wonderful heartfelt family gathering for little Clark and a much needed catch up with so many relatives. What a lot of driving for you but thankfully home now safe and sound.
You are right, I would not have guessed how flat that area is. I’ve been to Fort McMurray which is beautiful with hills and forests. Meanwhile, good luck with all the stitching plans. For me, a squirrel found its way into my sewing room just today. Eeek!

    1. Hi Jocelyn. Thank you for your lovely comment. It was good to get the much missed hugs caught up on. It’s really funny to see the different scenery and landscapes in this country of ours. I know I really miss my mountains when I’m travelling. A squirrel? I’ll have to watch your blog to see the goings on in your little wood house 😉What fun! 🐿. I have several chasing me right now and I’m trying to ignore them so I can actually sit, see and just get something done 😉

  6. I am so very late leaving a comment on this post, but I’m so glad you were able to be with family for Clarke’s Memorial Service. You have really been on the road, and I’m sure it’s all been good, but tiring. Delightful to see your guild photos – looks like a fun day.

    1. Thank you Wendy. It was good to be with family for the service. I’m still travelling since I’m at the studio today. Home tomorrow. On Friday I’m taking DH to see his SIL and her hubby in Sandpoint. Thank you for your sweet comment.

I’m so glad you had so many family members at Clarke’s memorial service. I’m so sorry for your great loss. May the LORD comfort all of you during this time.
