I Like Thursday #66

Each week I try to link up with LeeAnna of Not Afraid of Color for our weekly I Like Thursday posts. Taking the time to find things that I am grateful for, the things that spark joy, provide inspiration or provoke a chuckle can always make me realize how great life is.

I am beyond grateful to know that my two oldest great grandchildren have recovered from their cases of Covid. Mason has severe asthma so was not able to be vaccinated. Nov-Lee is still too young to be. Both are recovered and testing negative and are able to return to school and preschool. They have been left with a bit of a nagging cough but otherwise are back to normal; busy, active and always hungry!

I’m starting to get busier with my Guild. We are being optimistic that we can hold our annual Spring Fundraiser (which had been cancelled for 2 years) even if we have to hold it outdoors. I get to meet a small group of volunteers (3-4) to sort and organize all of the donated goods. In April we will start gathering volunteers to dig up, split and pot up garden plants (it’s almost a battle to get any of these treasures) and then the baking will begin for our tea room. We now have enough tents (several are loaned by our members) to be able to have everything set up in our yard.

Here’s a few photos from past fundraisers:

With all that is going on in my circle of family, friends and throughout my country, I’m finding that keeping busy is my best option. I am so grateful to have an adequate stash to keep busy. I’ve been working on some hand sewing as well as quilting projects, have done several pattern tests for designers I enjoy. My EPP projects are progressing. I’m trying to put the little shapes together. My stitches are showing a bit, but with much more practise will get better, I’m sure. I just keep reminding myself that it takes time to learn new skills. I’ll have photos to share soon. 😉

In closing I will share something that made me laugh:

Thank you for spending some of your time with me today. I do hope you have a wonderful Thursday and your week has been filled with fun, laughter and many things that make you happy. Do pop over to Not Afraid of Color to see what happy things our friends are sharing today. 😄 Carol

I have been fondling fabric and creating things with fabric and fiber for as long as I can remember. My children had homemade clothes, blankets, canning and quilts most of their lives. Now I create goodies to share! Hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy making them! When I am not creating with fiber or fabric I keep busy with Dear Heart, kids, grandkids, great grandkids.

  1. That is too funny!!! anything that occupies us when there are troubles, is a good thing. You do a lot of work for that guild….it is heartbreaking to think of how many things we have canceled or not done in the last two years. So glad your grandchildren recovered from Covid…prayers were answered for sure!

    1. Hi Sally. We had a mini fundraiser in the fall trying the outdoor setting and raised almost $3000 so I think it will work. We are doing more repairs/Reno’s to our little property so fundraising is important. Isn’t it great about the littles? 😉

  2. Your family recovered from this awful virus is wonderful and about the happiest thing I can think of, Carol. That fundraiser sounds like a lot of fun and worth the work going into it. Things feel like they are getting back to normal here too in Ontario. Thankfully!

  3. It’s encouraging to hear that your group is starting to be able to hold some of those activities that had to be put on hold in the past! We are anxiously waiting for our group to be able to meet again! Glad your two grands are feeling better, too!

  4. Hi Carol! I’m so glad Mason has recovered. Having severe allergies and then adding COVID into the mix is SO very scary. Phew! How great that your guild is starting to become more active. I know you have been very active and helpful to them in the past. That will be inspiring to you to have a purpose and focus on guild projects. Happy Saturday to you! {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne
