January Scrap Happy Day

I’ve always enjoyed playing with scraps, but have been making a concerted effort to use up my stash and my scraps since the Pandemic began. I have purchased some fabric in person when storefronts finally re-opened, but find shopping on line to be an imperfect solution when the stores are closed.

These past two weeks have seen some real scrappy fun going on in my sewing space.

The colour for the RSC for January is red. For the first bit of scrappy fun, I found some leftover bits of flannel with fun snowmen and winter themes on the bits and pieces.

I started playing with these sweet bits and pieces and came up with not one, but two fun, winter themed table runners which meets my commitment to the Table Scraps Challenge (the theme is snowmen) for the Month. 😉

I also had fun playing with scraps to make my project for the PQ 13.1 Challenge;

Another scrappy project for this month has been my project for a fun Blog Hop that focuses on using our scraps.

These fun piles of scraps and leftovers allowed me to play and do two pattern tests:

This month also is the start of the SAHRR hosted by Quilting Gail. Here is the Schedule from Gail’s blog:

  • January 10: I will host the first linky party … for you to show each of your centre blocks … but you’ll have to visit each of the SAHRR co-host bloggers to see their centre blocks
  • January 18: 1st Round: Anja @ Anja Quilts
  • January 25: 2nd Round: Emily @ The Darling Dogwood
  • February 1: 3rd Round: Roseanne & Sue @ Home Sewn by Us
  • February 8: 4th Round: Wendy @ Pieceful Thoughts of My Quilting Life
  • February 15: 5th Round: ME!!! @ Quilting Gail
  • February 22: 6th Round: Chris @ Chrisknitssews
  • March 21: Parade – showing all of your finished SAHRRs!

The SAHRR last year allowed me to use up an orphan block, leftover bits from other projects and memory invoking scraps from the bins. I’m hoping this year will be the same 😉

My SAHRR will be made using the block I made for a pattern test (can’t reveal it just yet 😉) using these scrap pieces of fabric and some yardage:

So far (without talking about the squirrel projects Samantha, my inner squirrel project is coercing me to do!) January is starting off to be an incredible month of fun and a lot of scrappy goodness.

I have been fondling fabric and creating things with fabric and fiber for as long as I can remember. My children had homemade clothes, blankets, canning and quilts most of their lives. Now I create goodies to share! Hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy making them! When I am not creating with fiber or fabric I keep busy with Dear Heart, kids, grandkids, great grandkids.
