I Love Thursday #52

I’m joining a group of friends who get together via a linky party on LeeAnna’s blog Not Afraid of Color most weeks to share list of things that bring them joy, inspire them or make them laugh.

These past couple of months I have been paying attention to my diet and try to get some of the Covid/3 surgery weight off. It seems I have developed an addiction to bean salsa since I made the decision. Add some garden cucumbers and carrots and it does make a perfect dinner! Last night I had just enough left to add to a rice bowl with a sesame dressing since I had made Porkchops, steamed broccoli and rice for DH. With his very fussy appetite (doesn’t like most veggies and allergic to onions and garlic) I often wind up making 2 meals.

I do love making quilts, but most of my family and friends are well supplied. About the only times I do quilts now for family are for new additions or memory quilts. I’ve changed my focus to do more Charity quilting so I can continue to feed my addiction to fabric.

When I last checked my mail I had received a lovely box of donations from Denise B. It contained quilt tops, blocks, backing fabric and scraps to help with keeping the need to quilt ongoing. These quilt tops will be finished and donated to Wildfire victims. So many here in British Columbia have lost their homes that it is heartbreaking.

I’m also starting on more quilts for Victoria’s Quilts Canada for Cancer Patients. I really love quilting so it’s nice to have a reason to keep doing it! 😉

As you know our summer (hah) has been overwhelming with a heat dome, extreme drought, wildfires and so much smoke. I love getting rain, seeing the yellow leaves on the side of the road and in the bush, being able to go for walks, wearing a light jacket and seeing the golf course get green again. It does seem as if we might get early fall and possibly winter this year. I’m so ready for it.

I enjoy reading and just finished re-reading the Outlander series of books. I have found that I am listening to audiobooks more now as well. I have some wonderful earbuds that work well to drown out the 6-10 hours of news DH watches. Instead I get to listen to stories or autobiographies while I’m sewing by machine or by hand.

This was an interesting listen if you enjoy autobiographies.

Thank you for stopping in to read my post. I appreciate it when you click on the follow button and enjoy responding to your comments. 😉 Carol

I have been fondling fabric and creating things with fabric and fiber for as long as I can remember. My children had homemade clothes, blankets, canning and quilts most of their lives. Now I create goodies to share! Hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy making them! When I am not creating with fiber or fabric I keep busy with Dear Heart, kids, grandkids, great grandkids.

  1. It has been quite the year for you, but you have gotten through it well. I’m glad you can stitch up charity quilts while you play with fabric, too. We are having cooler temps and rain today, which I’m enjoying, but I’m not quite ready for winter – yet.

    1. Hi Wendy. It is nice to get cooler temperatures and even the bits of rain we’ve had. I don’t think I’m ready for winter either. I’m guessing it’s time to start shopping for new winter tires though. It won’t be long and we will see white up top. Probably by my birthday in mid October 😉

    1. Hi Colette. Yes those pretty clear skies are so nice to see. Quilting does keep me calm and happy and listening to a book makes it even better. How wonderful that you can listen at work. I’d never have been able to so it’s a good thing audiobooks weren’t as readily available as now 😆
