I’m having too much fun with the SAHRR. Quite a few of our quilty friends got together to create a fun stay at Home Round Robin with each of them choosing the next border to surround the centre medallion.
This week Roseanne and Sue at Home Sewn By us chose checkerboards.
With my Medallion Quilt I am trying to focus on two things; to work from my stash, and to create a quilt with plenty of opportunities to play with negative space when quilting it.
I started with my medallion;
I was tied up with other goings on, wanting to keep this quilt smaller, and so chose to combine the next 2 clues (piano keys and plus signs) in the next round. The following clue was flying geese so I had mine migrating away from each other around just two corners.
This week the clue was checkerboards so I played a bit and came up with this;
Have you been sewing along with the designers for this fun project?
If not I will post the list and schedule below. You can still catch up. 😉 Carol

I’m drawing inspiration from your block to do mine today! It’s so pretty and I love the way you added interest and color without too many checkerboards.

Hi Carol! Gosh, I just love how you’ve built around the center medallion. It’s just brilliant how you added the Piano Keys and FG. It allows you plenty of negative space – I can’t wait to see how you quilt it. Just three more Rounds and it will be complete. Wendy’s Round is my favorite of all so far – we’ll see what you think on Monday. ~smile~ Roseanne

Hi Roseanne. It has been fun creating each round and trying to guess what the next clue will be. Monday can’t come fast enough. 😁. This has been the perfect project with the nasty cold weather keeping us indoors and trying to stay busy.

Hi Carol, I really love your quilt – it’s growing beautifully 🙂 I love all of the variations that the participants are doing. I can be very literal so when they said flying geese, I would have expected flying geese all around it – but no, that wasn’t necessary and actually much better! Your negative space is going to be so fun to quilt. I haven’t started one but one day I do hope to start a medallion quilt and grow it as you all have. It’s a great idea. Thanks so much for linking up to Free Motion Mavericks. Take care.

Thank you Andree for your lovely comment. This has been such a fun project and getting the negative space was a primary goal 😉

Your quilt is just lovely! I really like how you are interpreting the clues, and those migrating geese are the best part imho.
