I Love Thursday #27

Have you checked out bloggers posts listing the things that bring them joy that link up on LeeAnna’s blog Not Afraid of Color? It’s always fun to head over there and see what likes they are sharing this week.

I love my winter wonderland view.

As I’m sure you all know, I love quilting and playing with fabric. This week I finished a commission; a duvet cover made from a quilt top I had in my To Be Quilted Pile (better than calling them UFO’s, right?!?)

I just love those wandering flying geese, don’t you?

I also enjoy knitting. Last spring I made myself a beautiful shawl which my daughter borrowed (and took home 😉). With having so much time lately waiting for DH to have tests and appointments I thought I needed to keep some handwork on hand. Today I finished my shawl. I was happy to have enough of the same wool I had used last year to make another one. Is there anything better or warmer than a lovely wool shawl?

Just need to block it 😄

In between knitting, quilting and sitting in the car waiting for DH, I also enjoy baking and cooking. I had decided to make strudel, filled with apples, cinnamon, raisins and pecans. DH told me it smelled wonderful. I like thinking that eventually my sense of smell will come back. We did have a slice for desert and I think I could taste the cinnamon. 🤤

I love knowing that my son made it home to their place in Mexico from Saudi Arabia in time to surprise his wife and kids. My DIL says he was her birthday present on the 22nd. This was as he was walking up to them to say “Surprise!” Can you believe the blonde with her back to the camera is my 12 1/2 year old granddaughter? She is just a smidgeon shorter than her 5’8” mother now. 😲 I’m glad to know they now have a month together before he returns to work.

I’d also like to share that one of my favourite likes is YOU. Thank you for sharing your time with me. I love reading your comments.

Merry Christmas to each and every one of you. If you are staying home in your bubble enjoy your family time via social media. I will be. 🤶🏻 Carol

I have been fondling fabric and creating things with fabric and fiber for as long as I can remember. My children had homemade clothes, blankets, canning and quilts most of their lives. Now I create goodies to share! Hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy making them! When I am not creating with fiber or fabric I keep busy with Dear Heart, kids, grandkids, great grandkids.

  1. Merry Christmas, Carol, to you and DH!! What lovely photos and things to enjoy this week. The shawl looks so cozy and comfy. We had a nasty snowstorm yesterday that started with a layer of ice. Happy to be tucked in and warm here at home! What a fun surprise for your son and his family – I hope they enjoy their time together! And yay for maybe being able to taste the cinnamon!!

    1. Merry Christmas to you and yours Wendy 🤶🏻 we have a bit more snow here but it’s nasty cold instead. I’m really pleased to snuggle in my new shawl. Wasn’t that a wonderful surprise. I’d love to have seen the photo that would have been taken 2 seconds later when they all realized he was there 😉. I think I did taste the cinnamon, apples, raisins and pecans 😁
