I Love Thursday #10

Another week of adventures; some good, some just plain strange.

I love that DH has finally been able to get up and start walking a bit more. It’s really good since on Friday he should be getting his staples out!

I am especially happy that my daughter has been here for almost two weeks and I get to keep her here for another two weeks.

We have been keeping ourselves occupied looking after DH (he’s having too much fun with two of us attending to his every whim), doing jigsaw puzzles, crafting, talking and spending time outside watching the ridge lines and eating many of our favourite salads. I love that we can spend time together like this.

On Monday late afternoon we had a nasty storm roll through with vivid light shows and torrential rain. Unfortunately the light shows started 7 different wildfires within a 50 km radius of our home. As of this morning 5 of them are burning out of control but I like how our B.C. Wildfire Crews are on the job and we get to see some of them at work.

Wednesday morning we had some of DH’s buddies come by to visit. While they were here DD and I got out for a walk which we both enjoyed, until….the attack of the killer wasp! I’m so glad it came after me instead of my daughter since she has a severe allergy to their stings. The nasty critter got me twice; once on my chin just below my lip and once just on the inner edge of my lip. It kept on dive bombing me and trying to get my face. I am so happy that no one had their phones handy because my DD said I looked like a mad woman swatting and running in circles. I like the fact that an Ibuprofen and an ice pack dealt with the worst of the discomfort and thatI could provide comic relief for family and friends.

I love my new toy and the fact that I have managed a bit of time sewing in between all of the necessary functions I need to take care of these days.

Isn’t that light teal green the sweetest colour ever?

I am happy to have one quarter of the 3 1/2” units ready for the pattern test I am doing.

I really like planning blog hop projects. I’m taking part in 3 hops in September and October, and have one project ready for my day and am working on the finish for the Show and Tell Day of the Hop. Another project for the second hop is finally planned and I am narrowing down the third hop project. Now all I need is the time and the ability to sit and sew for a few hours for several days.

I’m sure that once I no longer have to help DH stand or get out of bed my back will heal after putting it out trying to get him out of the car. I love the fact that walking and some gentle stretching seems to be helping as well as sitting outside with the sun shining on my back. A sunshine heat pack is always nice to experience. 😉

I will be linking with LeeAnna on her blog, Not Afraid of Color. I Like Thursday. You really should pop over and see everyone else’s lists of their likes/loves for the week!

Thanks for stopping by and reading my blog. Hopefully we shared a chuckle if you were imagining this crazy lady running, jumping and swatting at the wasp as it was trying to sting my face for the third time! 😉 Carol

I have been fondling fabric and creating things with fabric and fiber for as long as I can remember. My children had homemade clothes, blankets, canning and quilts most of their lives. Now I create goodies to share! Hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy making them! When I am not creating with fiber or fabric I keep busy with Dear Heart, kids, grandkids, great grandkids.

  1. Carol,
There are tons of fires in BC. We don’t have any near Surrey, but I’m sure we’ll soon have smoke pollution from either the island, the interior or WA state. I hope the fires stay away from your home!

Glad you’re enjoying your new toy! It’s a pretty colour!
    Happy Quilting! 🙂

    1. Hi Gail. Yes there are over 500 fires in B.C. I’m so impressed with the job our fire service is doing to protect us. I hope you don’t get the smoke that we have.

Isn’t my new machine the prettiest and it Sew’s nicely too 😉

  2. Sunshine heat pack -ahhh! They are the best. Stay safe; thinking of you as I hear on the news of the fires and evacuations near Penticton. Your new baby is the sweetest! Love the colour, and yay for daughter time, and salads to share.

    1. Hi Sandra. In spite of the hiccups life is pretty incredible Sandra. Penticton is a heartbreaking situation. It’s brought back nightmares from the Okanagan Mountain Fire in Kelowna; soldiers marching in the streets and buckets being filled from swimming pools in some areas. DD and salads are making life more interesting for sure, and my new baby is a sanity saver 😉

  3. I’m so sorry about the wasp stings, Carol. It sounds painful and unpleasant, although I have to giggle just a bit at the picture that forms in my head, seeing you swinging and swatting. DH might be in for a rude awakening after he’s healed and his wait staff pulls back a little – ha! Glad his recovery is going well after the initial hiccups. So glad you have your daughter there and are enjoying your time together. I’m in two of those hops too! What fun!
