I Love Thursday #1

I Love Thursday’s has been a Linky party I’ve been appreciating for quite a while. Several of my favourite bloggers participate. Do pop over to some of their sites. Links will be at the bottom of my post.

I’m thinking it’s time I shared some of my loves.

My first love is my DH. This man is so patient with my being so addicted to playing with fabric. He is quite the enabler with volunteering to be a quilt holder and occasionally sends me to my LQS to splurge a bit on supplies or wished for tools.

I love looking back on memories. It seems that February and March always have me feeling nostalgic and missing those that have I love who have passed on. Believe it or not, I am the blonde standing second from the left on the back row. This was the last photo taken of myself, my siblings, our spouses and kids 2 months before my sister (the red head on the front row in the purple shirt) died in a car accident. It’s heart wrenching because the sweet baby on the right has also passed on. It’s fun now to look at this picture and try to imagine what this photo would be like now with these children grown and some of them are grandparents now. We for sure need a much larger yard to fit the family all in!

Then of course I am totally in love with each new addition to my family. December 2019 saw the arrival of Clarke, my second great granddaughter. Luckily I get to see lots of photos of this sweet little girl who is the granddaughter of my daughter, the girl standing right in front of me in the above photo.

I love squirrels 🐿. They seem to always pay me visits when I have pending deadlines!

I had a very manageable list this week of goals. Then the email arrived with a request to test a pattern! Well what was I to do, but drop everything and pull fabric for the test and of course try to keep working on the Project Quilting 11.5 Challenge.

My last love for the day is:

Second cataract surgery done! Look Ma; no glasses! It’s so bright now I need sunglasses and will likely need reading glasses. I love being able to see.

Thanks for stopping by. 😎Carol

I Love Thursday

Published by Carol Andrews

I have been fondling fabric and creating things with fabric and fiber for as long as I can remember. My children had homemade clothes, blankets, canning and quilts most of their lives. Now I create goodies to share! Hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy making them! When I am not creating with fiber or fabric I keep busy with Dear Heart, kids, grandkids, great grandkids.

  1. Hi Carol! Ohhhhhh, that sweet baby picture. I just want to pick her up and see what she has to tell me. It looks like she has a lot on her mind to share. And DH – well, he’s a keeper and now you can see him all the better! Yippee to good eye sight. Happy Friday, my friend. I’m thrilled you are joining in on the Thursday likes – LeeAnna will be delighted to add you to the list. ~smile~ Roseanne

    1. Hi Roseanne. Seemed a good time to concentrate on good things rather than the 6 hours a day of news DH watches! I’m getting anxious to have some time with that sweet girl! Can you believe she is 11 weeks old now! Isn’t my DH’s smile big enough to light the world? As to being able to see its life altering! The piles of fabric I had pulled for projects sure need a second look now! 😁 Carol

  2. Love the family picture!! I’d have to go back before 1972 to get a family picture with my family. My brother died in an avalanche skiing when he was 15, and so began the departures. You know how much you love the squirrels!! Can’t wait to see what you are making! Your log cabin is gorgeous…do you remember the widths of the lights and darks?? I want to make a “curved” log cabin quilt and I love your layout! I got a squirrel for my challenge this week…I just need to get on it!!

  3. Which I Love Thursday Linky party do you like? Your link goes back to this post. I love your quilt and you are quite lucky to have a hubby who wants you to feed your habit.

    1. Oh dear. My link backfired! I will fix it. Thank you so much for pointing it out. I’m glad you liked the quilt and isn’t DH a sweetie? Thank you for commenting! 😁 Carol

  4. So happy the cataract surgeries are over and so successful! Hard to believe you are a great grandmother, evidence notwithstanding. LOL I don’t have a picture like that, because we didn’t have family get togethers. My brothers always broke out in fist fights! One brother and one sister have died, but only one of my nephews and one of my nieces from 20 or so. My favorite part of this post was your first paragraph. He sounds so much like my Paul was! He made things I needed, fixed things that broke, found quilt shops for me, wrapped my presents for anything in fabric … just aided and abetted me, always with a smile.

    1. I’m so lucky with DH. His first wife was a crafter so she trained him well! He even offers to sit in the car for a couple of hours when we are travelling so I can browse quilt shops! 😉

  5. My DH is also enabling but doesn’t care much about being my holder. That’s okay though, it made me think outside the box and come up with creative ways to photograph quilts. Thank you for linking up to Put your foot down. Love your log cabin quilt.
