February OMG

We all know that February is a short month with not as much time to get those goals met.

Most of us have those Valentine or Easter projects that need to be done and gifted. In keeping with that I have a project in mind;

Start working on a design for a tshirt quilt for my DH. He has a pile of sentimental shirts that are not wearable so a quilt will be perfect for him to keep his memories intact.

I have a leader ender project on the go that I started post surgery when all I could do was to construct four patches from my scrap 2 1/2” squares. I’m sure I have enough of these to be able to make a big lap quilt (or larger). Time to get it done.

Building four patches. Great therapy post surgery

My third goal for OMG is to keep working on the pile of To Be Quilted Tops. I’m afraid to count how many tops are in that pile.

Star Crossed Plaid is under the needle.

So far I have no commitments to test any patterns this month as I am trying to keep my list fairly minimal.

I am having cataract surgery on both eyes this month resulting in three follow up appointments with the optician and surgeon. It’s likely that I won’t meet my goals, but one can only hope.

What are you working on this month? I’m looking forward to seeing your lists!

I have been fondling fabric and creating things with fabric and fiber for as long as I can remember. My children had homemade clothes, blankets, canning and quilts most of their lives. Now I create goodies to share! Hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy making them! When I am not creating with fiber or fabric I keep busy with Dear Heart, kids, grandkids, great grandkids.

  1. OMG! You’re like me!! I don’t have just one goal (although I do list one as the major one), but about 4 or five goals on the go. My machine broke down last month and I did all this applique to keep going, and at the end I put them together, like you’re doing for your quilt.

    Can’t wait to see it completed, all those squares…. Good luck.

    1. Thank you Nicole. I am bad because I have to have more than one project on the go. Getting my appliqué down pat is another goal for this year. Did you post a link for your appliqué. I’d love to see it! 😄 Carol

  2. I’ll bet I have more quilt tops waiting to be quilted then you do!!! I had 7 months in Florida with only a small dog and a cat to take care of. I pieced quilts all day, every day, and my longarm was across the country in Washington. Needless to say, I didn’t quilt anything on my sewing machine!! I have over 50 quilt tops waiting for their turn under the needle for quilting. I always had customer quilts on the frame and my quilts just got pushed aside. Now that I have been gone for 4 years, I don’t think I’ll have too many customers left, so I will have a chance to get my quilts finished!!

    1. Oh My! I think you win the prize for being productive and life interfering with your finishes. Just think how much fun you’ll have rediscovering what is in that pile. I keep looking around here and daydreaming of what I could get rid of to make at least a mid arm fit in our little space when I have saved up enough to get one! Of course we will likely be moved again by the time I save enough so who knows how much space I’ll have. Daydreams are good. I’m sure you dream of getting to the bottom of that pile! That is you can dream of it but it won’t take long for your customers to rediscover you when you get home!

      1. Before that trip to Florida, I would work on one quilt until it was finished…all the way to the label and binding, before I would start another quilt. I think I want to quilt at least half of my quilts before I even think about quilting for others. Who knows if I even remember how to quilt when I get back to it!!??

  3. Hi Carol! Goodness. Three goals plus cataract surgery on both eyes. You don’t do anything small, do you?!! I love how your quilting is coming along, and I know you will be careful to not overdo. Right?!! {{Hugs}} You’ll rock this list. ~smile~ Roseanne

    1. Hi Roseanne. Just look at those three! All small goals since the only finish is Clarke’s quilt. I’m planning the tshirt quilt and working on the leader ender so it’ll be doable! 😉. Surgery is apparently a piece of cake! I’ll take care or DH will duct tape me to a chair he says!
