Squirrels, Squirrels Running Every Where

Yesterday I started piecing a quilt for a pattern test I’m doing. I had everything cut and ready to spend the day sewing geese.

Then a squirrel ran through my head!

I called and emailed my quilters to get a bee together tomorrow to make blocks for the Australian Groups that are making charity quilts for the fire victims.

Of course, that meant doing some sample blocks for the patterns I found on line.

The scrappy trees went together perfectly and came out at 12 1/2” square with only a hair to trim off.

Then I paper pieced a 12” block. While using my snips I snipped my finger! Haven’t done that in years! 🤪. Then I measured my block and it came out at 11 1/2” square. I think I will add a border to this first one and try again tomorrow to see where I went wrong!

I think I’ll put these squirrels aside and go back to making flying geese! Ha ha

Are you getting to play with fabric this weekend? What are you working on?

Thanks for stopping by today and every day you do. Feel free to follow my blog and recommend it to your Quilty friends. 😁 Carol

I have been fondling fabric and creating things with fabric and fiber for as long as I can remember. My children had homemade clothes, blankets, canning and quilts most of their lives. Now I create goodies to share! Hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy making them! When I am not creating with fiber or fabric I keep busy with Dear Heart, kids, grandkids, great grandkids.

  1. I mailed off 2 quilt blocks to Australia on Friday…postage was $14.50 and the postal employee told me it would take 4-5 weeks for them to arrive. And I had to fill out customs forms as well!! Just be warned!! I do love the teals you are using for your geese!!

    1. Thank you. I’m glad you enjoyed them. They are being shipped with a couple of hundred others to be made in to quilts in Australia. I’m daydreaming about them being part of someone’s quilt. Fires are so devastating whether a wildfire or a house fire. I’ve experienced both as well as being a member of a volunteer fire brigade so this touches my heart. 😔 Carol
