This week was a good one. I’m doing my physio daily and saw my surgeon for the 2 week follow up post surgery. He is pleased with my progress. The incisions are all healed up so I can shower as long as I keep a sling on. The first time switching out of Big Bertha to the lighter sling was a chore but I think I’ve got the process down pat. I had DH set my ironing board up and adjust it to the right height so I can just lean in or out of the sling once all the Velcro bits are undone. I tell you that there is nothing on earth that I appreciate as much as having a shower and getting to wash my hair! Even one handed it went well! 🤪
This weekend has had me sewing. It makes my heart happy to see these piles of 2 1/2” squares
And to make them in to these:
It’s the first time in years that I have just started strip sewing pieces with no project in mind. This isn’t even a leader ender project. It’s sewing just for the sheer enjoyment of touching fabric and enjoying the different prints on the squares. So many memories of quilts made for family, friends and charity.
Tomorrow I am going to attempt cutting my next quilt out. If all goes well I might even get to start sewing a quilt!
For today I am content with making these piles of squares in to 2 patches and then making 4 patches. I’m sure you’ll can think of something to do with some scrappy four patches! 😉
My next follow up with my surgeon is the end of October. At that the me he will give m his opinion as to wether or not I can start removing the sling occasionally and how soon he the no’s it will be before I can start driving again. My surgery has been traumatic for DH. With his MS he has gotten used to me doing everything and including 95% of the driving. Poor man has had to do all of the driving, most meals, dishes and laundry. The past few days I have managed to do a bit more of the chores. It’s good to not feel useless and has given DH a new appreciation of just how much I do. End result; we get to start planning s mini vacation in the next couple of months. I’m thinking visiting kids, grands and great grands. DH is thinking Pacific Coast Highway to see the fall colours. 😉
Thank you for dropping in. I appreciate your taking time to stop by for a visit to see how life is going and what projects I get to work on today. Enjoy your day and do spend time playing at something you enjoy doing. 😉 Carol
