Crystal Facets

Doing another pattern test for The Quilt Pattern Magazine. The pattern is called Crystal Facets, is a paper piecing project and is written by Barbara Douglas.

I started with this;

And continued on to this;

Such a sweet basket of fabric goodness!

I continued on and was really pleased with the pattern. It was so well written I didn’t do my normal dyslexic trick of reversing pieces; not even once, and I only had to use the seam ripper once before I got to this point;

I had gotten to the point where the blocks were assembled and I was starting to put the rows together when my surgery was re-scheduled and I had to stop sewing. This projects has officially become my first and only UFO for 2019. I am so disappointed but have accepted the fact that manipulating fabric is out of the question for me for a few months according to my doctor and therapist.

In the meantime, I will continue to keep doing whatever I can. Every day that brings me a new accomplishment will bring me closer to quilting again. So far I have managed a bit of knitting, I washed half the dishes yesterday and today I did a load of laundry and managed to fold it! I never envisioned being excited about folding laundry, but I am! 🥴

I hope you are spending time today doing something you love whether it is manipulating fabric or paint, writing or going for a nice long walk. I’m going to do 2 of 3 so life is good! Cheers and have a wonderful day! 😉 Carol

I have been fondling fabric and creating things with fabric and fiber for as long as I can remember. My children had homemade clothes, blankets, canning and quilts most of their lives. Now I create goodies to share! Hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy making them! When I am not creating with fiber or fabric I keep busy with Dear Heart, kids, grandkids, great grandkids.

  1. Hi Carol! Your spirits are up and that has to be helping with your recovery. Folding laundry?? And doing dishes?!! You r.o.c.k. girl. I’m sorry that playing with fabric is out of the question for now, but at the rate you’re going you’ll be back to it sooner than later. {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne

    1. Okay, you busted me! 🤔 I’m scheming and trying to figure out how to elevate my sewing machine so it’s the right height to not let me move my shoulder. I just had DH move my Accuquilt cutter to my table and my scrap bin to my chair. The plan is to see tomorrow if I can cut my scraps in to my scrap saving bins and boxes. 🥴. Not sure if I can turn the crank on my Go Cutter but I’m thinking I’m going to try……….tomorrow. It’s nap time now before I make dinner. Garden veggies dropped off by a student. Stir fry coming up! 😄
